I removed the bottom to refill it and the coil stayed attached to the top section.

This is a problem known to Aspire because in the instruction booklet it states:
"When you unscrew the bottom hardware, the atomizer should be unscrewed from the upper hardware at the same time.
In some cases, the atomizer will remain attached to the air-tube shaft in the center. If this happens, please unscrew the
atomizer from the upper hardware and screw it back into the bottom hardware."

Well, I've tried to unscrew the atomizer from the upper hardware till my fingers are sore.

What with tiny o-rings and tiny threads near a glass tube, I didn't want to break out the vice-grips.
Anyone one have any suggestions? Does Aspire have a special tool to "please unscrew the atomizer..."?

Remove the pyrex tank from the top section/chimney so you have room to work and grab a hold of the coil on the flange just above the o-ring with a pair of pliers and turn it out.

Best of luck!

Just use a small pair of needle nose pliers just below the threads it will unscrew.

Got it. After unscrewing the top section from the glass tube, the coil attached to the tube section would not slide out of the glass.
I then tried to separate the top section into two pieces by turning it. That didn't happen, but it did unscrew the coil. Thanks xt and Fj.

Refilled the tank and now the thing won't fire. Tempermental buggers.
