Hey guys...i had an issue with one of the AW IMR batteries i bought a while ago. I used a spacer the other day since the battery is shorter than a normal 18650 and it worked great (or so I thought). After a little bit i put down the mod, then realized within a minute the casing to the SB was HOT. So I opened it up, saw a small spark and the battery almost burned my hand.

I thought it was ok to use a spacer in this application, but I guess I was wrong. Any tips, info? I haven't used the battery since and I assume its probably bad now.

did you put the spacer on top of the battery?

If the spacer is placed on the bottom there shouldn't be a problem because the negative end is always in contact with the housing any way (at least on the SB). Bottom button devices are just the opposite and you probably shouldn't use spacers on top. They can easily arc to the case creating a direct short.
