Hi all,

I LOVE TO SMOKE!
I have smoked for 25 years. I have quit a few times but no longer than 6 months. I have quit quitting. I don't opening say that as it is admitting I am a weak ... fool; but what it comes down to is I LOVE TO SMOKE... and have never wanted to quit.

Discovered e-cigs about 3 days ago and have researched all I could over the week-end. This truly is like a dream coming true. I can keep all of the aspects I love about smoking (the draw, the breaks to be with my thoughts, the accompaniment of scotch and a smoke etc.etc.) AND be gone with the grim reaper's grip on my throat.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a starter kit for my wife and I.

I've settled on a 510 kit, found a vendor or two in Canada which I would buy from etc. etc.

So... I figured I had the whole kit and kabudle figured out and
1) then realized that you can't get nicotine in Canada...
2) my wife walks in the door saying a college at work has an e-cig from Crown 7 with nic carts

She is set on having cartomizers (although I can refill cartridges for her) and is adamant about having nicotine in the mix (I would settle for the occasional analogue for a while and then nicorette gum to transition off of nicotine, but she is not)....

I don't like the Crown7 sets (crown7.com). It is 1 bat, 2 cartidges and an usb charger fo $40 on a model that doesn't have parts or accessories as available as say the Joye 510's... (and I can get the Joye products from a number of vendors locally).... and the Crown7's look to be propreitary.

I'm assuming her college (who has been at this for about 2 weeks now) has managed to get their shipments with nicotine cartomizers past customs, which is all good... I just don't want to be locked into a single vendor product....

so... are there "discrete" vendors in the US or UK which will send to Canada who will
1) Discretely label the package for better chances of it passing through customs
2) reputable who I can trust the cartomizers or e-juice is not dangerous (I found one in china but I keep having visions of battery acid being filtered through lead in a dingy cellar in Shenzen)
3) will be compatible with a more popular piece of hardware so I can buy the hardware here and buy the juice or carts from there(Joye seems to be the standard here - but I really like the Bloog too).
I 'm new to the forum so I can't receive PM's yet, and don't expect anyone to post such details publicly... but I'm dieing to make the purchase and get the gear here... at this point it is like having a life saving hand reaching out, but having to wait to grab on to it... every analog I have right now just makes me angry

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that so many countries are eager to ban ecigs.
Analogs and alcohol feels sinful but ecigs feel like something you could do at church camp.
Unbelievable.

Thanks all,

I chaps my ... too. In CND herbal analogs are completely unregulated with health canada`s stance being 1) they on`t know if they are a safe alternative to tobacco analogs 2) they will wait, watch and see with out regulation (this stance began in 1973).... so out come e-cigs and their stance is to try and ban it because they don`t know if there is any health issues with it....

I think the biggest contribution to this community (at least in canada) is to educate the experts that there is a huge distinction between 1) nicotine/tobacco 2) smoke inhalation/vapor....

In the same breath which they say nicotine gum, patches and pharma inhalers do not cause cancer, they say that e-cig do.... arrrrgh!

The issue is - if 100 people quite smoking today, in CND, it would cost the country later 1 year aprox $320,000 in taxes which pays for Health Canada and all of the anti-tobacco organizations here...

If they were truly committed to the health of Canadians e-cigs would have been pushed through to the mainstream in a hurry... but they are not... health legislation is based around the health of those who are not smokers (second hand smoke) with an attitude that smokers are perpetrators of harm whose only recourse it to quite and join the legions of anti-smokers....

... I'll save it for the Canada forum - sorry for the rant, it is sooo frustrating.

That is pretty much the way I see it too. All of us that have switched to vaping are severely cutting into the bottom line of the tobacco companies and the govt. agencies depending on the tax money from cigs. Your tax dollars at work...against you:facepalm:

The fact that they aren't collecting taxes on it like they do with tobacco and alcohol probably has a lot to do with it.

There's actually a separate Canadian forum...just get your post count up, and you can ask the locals who know what's up. They must be vaping something up there....

Who knows- maybe one of these days they'll open a vape shop on the American side of the Falls ;)

Thank you! I was trying to figure out also how to get one in Canada. Health Canada is just ridiculous and as you say somebody up here's gotta be vaping.

Understand.
Sounds like conspiracy theory; but actions speak louder than words.
American Lung Association treated ecig more like a hostile alien than a potential lung saving tool.
Feels like a bad dream.

Hey Jossy,
Fellow Canadian here. With regard to buying nic liquid, yes there are still a few suppliers out there who provide reasonable prices and decent products. I'd hit up the Canada forums, there's still a few lists flying around.

For your hardware, I'd actually recommend getting the Bloog Maxx Fusion kit for the most "Like smoking" experience. These are a cartomizer system (Based off the KR8 Style, but better technology), and these systems are available in Canada.

I have a 510 kit, and eGo Kit, and a manual KR808 Kit outside of the bloog, and IMO the Bloog beats them all hands down for consistency and ease of use.

If you do settle on the 510 kit for compatibility and accessory choices, I'd recommend at minimum getting a PCC. The battery life isn't stellar and if you are going to be away from a charger or USB port for a significant amount of time it can be a life saver.

Thanks again guys.
I pulled the trigger on the 510. Thought it would be a good starting point as the bloog's are out of stock. Chatted up my wife about it and decided we would give a go on the 510, supplemented with the occasional analog. After I bought I think I found a CND site with n-juice so placed an order for some juice. If we like it (which I don't think is really a question any longer) we'll gear-up with everything we need, most likely the Bloog gear.

I'm so excited... feels a little silly being a 40 years old and all gitty about a purchase....

Unshameless plug:
I had emailed a number of vendors. What I generally do with online purchases is send an email with a mix of educated and moronic questions (and rudely long). From the replies you usually get a pretty accurate idea of what the service will be like.
Well Happy Vaper was stellar. I got long in-depth explanations and good advice from Rob. Although we didn't follow all of his advice (to get the eGo and a tank atomizer). He did secure my trust and loyalty.

I'M SOOO EXCITED!!! (gitty school girl - there I go again).

Happy Vaper is an awesome vendor - their stuff is top-notch, no knockoffs there. They'll do whatever it takes to make sure vaping is a good experience for you - great choice!

If you are looking for *ahem* juice, check out the Canada Suppliers forum. Canadian vendors post about their offerings in there. Once you're past 5 posts, there's several of us (CdnBison, larktdl, me) who will send you a PM list of vendors.

Hi there and welcome to ECF from a fellow Canadian! As far as beginning your vaping adventure, you are in a prime location, geographically! The GTA has a very large vaping community and has regular monthly 'vape meets' where suppliers and fellow vapers get together to socialize and exchange info! As others have said, get your post count up to 5 and then come and join us on the Canada Forum.
