Problems with Flavorwest Flavoring

Hello!

finally i can open a new thread.

i have a little big problem with the flavorings from flavorwest.
i know they are a little week, so i mix them from 10 to 25 %.

after a little vaping (3 ml) i must replace my atomizer.
something is in the flavors that kills them very quickly.
it tastes burned and the vaporproduction is very low.

does anyone here has the problems?

its almost by every flavor... fruit stripe gum, red white and blue, tropical punch, yellow cake, sugar cookie..

maybe i´m doing something wrong?

i dont get this problems with TFA flavorings, only by Flavorwest

sorry for my english ^^

thanks for your reply!

i have send an email to flavorwest about these problems, but i never received an answer.

i dont know what i should do with these flavorings, in my eyes they are not suitable for vaping.
if i can replace an atomizer after 3ml, the flavors are useless.

maybe someone is thinking: why has he opened this topic?
i hope that flavorwest will change the ingredients or make the flavorings
more friendly to atomizer.
they dont care if a single person has a problem, but if 100 or more have problems
with their flavors.... maybe they think about it.

I've found that bakery flavors (from all companies) gunk up attys real quick... coffee and tobacco flavors as well.

I mostly vape fruit flavors and have no problems with them clogging attys.

the main FW flavors I use are ecto cooler and pineapple, and they seem to vape "cleaner" than most. (usually get 6 months+ out of a cisco 306)

IME, FW gummy bear is an atty killer...

Yep, no problems here with other fruits I've used from FW (Blood Orange and Orange). But WOW, that Dragon Fruit is bad! You can taste it burning up after only about 5-6 drags, even at super low volts, and within 0.5ml you can see wicks blackening and thus any remaining juice in the tank is rendered nasty in short order.

I've tested the following, Teaberry (AWESOME!), Creamy Nut Delight, Snowflake, Butter Mint, Vanilla mint (Vanilla Ice), Vanilla De Menthe, Cream De Menthe, Candy Cane/Peppermint, Extreme Ice, Black Licorice, Absinthe, Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Custard, and Wintergreen are all fine for me too. Still have to check Spearmint, Doublemint Gum, and Butter Cream.

Whipped Cream seems OK to me so far though, but I've not vaped it all that much yet (Still testing). I've mixed up initial 10% batch and it's been OK so far on drippers and cotton wicked tanks.

hi again!

thanks for the reply´s.

some fruit flavors will do the same like dragonfruit... the goji berry is one of that.
i named the goji berry Finish Him Berry.

the whipped cream is not that hard to the atty like an dragonfruit, but it still
does the same thing, but you can vape it longer, after 10ml to 15 ml i have to replace
the atty.
i mix this up @ 12 %... maybe its a bit too much for it.. i have to test it on lower percentage.

but the main question remains.. why are these flavor do this? what is in it?
flavorwest is not going to tell us, but why?
why are some flavors ok, and some not?
by darker flavors like chocolate or bakery.. ok we know it, but even clear fruit
flavors act like a killer.
maybe the problem is gone if we mix all flavors with 5 % lol....

i think it is one kind of sweetener in a very high % already in the flavors.
it should be easy to remove this for flavor west without affecting the taste.

Yea there is no need to really add more than a drop or two of sweetner (Sucralose or EM) to Flavor West flavors. I have been using FW flavors for 2 years without noticing any difference in hardware. That ranges from 510s to 306s to carto tanks, top coil tanks bottom coil tanks, etc. Sometimes you just get dud or crap hardware...even from the best companies. unfortunately the only way to test this is if you get multiple hardware failures from the same flavors every time. Atomizers should last around 30 days according to specs. If you are getting more, then you either vape less than the tested amount or you got an above average atomizer. This is due to the changes that the metal coils go through when heating and cooling repeatedly over time.

If you want to test the flavors, then do yourself a favor and really TEST the flavors. Get different hardware to try with the same juice. Does it ONLY burn out certain hardware. Does it randomly burn out hardware with sometimes them working normally? Did removing sweetner amounts that are above 1-3% prolong my hardware (it should). Did I use oil based flavors or those with syrup listed in ingredients (This will destroy hardware fast).

Ya, what I mention about Dragon Fruit has nothing to do with hardware, or sweetener (As I don't use any). It happens the same in any/all hardware, in VERY short order, yet no other flavors do that from their lineup.

And I'm using all hardware I rebuild, so it's not like I'm complaining because it's crap hardware, nor is it happening just because it's faulty hardware. It's stuff I use and rebuild daily, and I ONLY have problems with that flavor (Or others known to do similar things of course)

So yes, same failure instantly with Dragon Fruit, in multiple (ANY) hardware (RBA's, Drippers, Clearo's, Nova's, carto's ect), without sweetener and it's 100% replicable every time. If you lower the percentage or increase PG to thin it out, then it'll take longer to happen, but that initial roasting flavor that starts it lets you know soon enough it's coming no matter what you do. Flavor amount on that one doesn't matter either, 3-5% where it's so light you can't taste it, or 10%+ and it's gonna happen in a hurry.

There is something in "Some" of their flavors that just burns way to quickly, like you'd find and expect in some other brands darker or super sweet flavors. And were talking about clear or near clear liquids, not overly sweetened (None in my cases), and fruits at that which are generally some of the easiest on hardware.

For comparison TFA Dragon Fruit doesn't do that at all, even if you use an unvapeable amount to where the flavor blows your head off :D

There's something in there in "some" flavors that they either add for sweetening effect, or already there and known and they want to leave it for some reason, or it's something that's not being properly filtered out for whatever reason. It's only certain ones, like I'm sure you'd find some with any brand, except with Flavor West it seems to be affecting some of the more clear flavors that you wouldn't normally expect to be affected by this type of thing.

I will admit, some of the flavors Hoschman mentions I'd expect might clog or burn easier than others, but that's just my thoughts by looking at the names I've never tried the flavors.

Goji Berry, Tropical Punch, Ginger Ale, Whipped Cream, and Cheesecake I would not expect this from so I was surprised to see those mentioned. The only one I have though is Whipped Cream, and I haven;t used it much yet so I've not personally ran into the issue with this one yet, but I'm sure I will since he's mentioned it as being guilty of this issue. I did plan to get their Cheesecake next time, so I'm sure I'll find out about that one soon too.

Coumarin Pipe, have you tried that Hoschman? Just curious, because it's on my get next list too, and I was thinking it might be a clogger as well but still wanted to test it out. BTW thanks for your testing info on Whipped Cream, sounds like it lasts WAY longer than Dragon Fruit! That Dragon Fruit is so bad you can't even vape a ml in a tank, not even sure what I could do with it! I see it's ruining some of MBV's other juices they use it in too, just look at the comments on Albino Drake! I doubt I'll ever use Whipped Cream straight, or at 10% or above, so it should be OK for me. I mainly got it as a mixer, and only have that 10% mixed up as an initial flavor test batch, I'll more than likely be using it at 3-6% in DIY combo's

Also, I forgot to mention previously, better add Salted Carmel to your list too!
