I seem to have problems with my Protank 3 Coil Heads, every time i clean them. My very last one gave me the "Check Atomizer" problem on my DNA. It's definitely not my Hana because my other tanks works fine. So now i don't have a protank to vape on. Not a real huge problem i still drip and use other tanks but this is by far my favorite tank lol.

I'm here to figure out what has gone wrong after cleaning them and dry burning the gunk. I usually tear them all apart, put them under running water and then pour hot water on them in a bowl to let them soak for a bit. After they are all dry, i put the bottom piece on my mod and dry burn it. It burns and fires fine... but after a few puffs with the flavour in the tank, i get the check atomizer problem and unable to vape. I even waited 1-2 hours before taking another tut but no dice :(

I noticed this on 3 coils. If this goes on, im going to be paying through my nose to buy them coils and possibly end up not using it later on ~ :(

Coils like these should air dry overnight, or short errors can happen and they won't fire. Just a bit of water in the wrong place can cause this...

Ohmigosh really? Damn! But i keep seeing videos where they dry burn right after they wash them :( I do dry the wicks a little with paper towel and then dry burning them. Guess i should have thought about this more :( what a waste of coils.

I'm not saying it happens every time, but it has happened several times and the fix I had was to let them dry completely. I never dry burned.

That sounds fair enough for me. I need some duplicates in that case so i can clean and use another while i let them air dry. I never thought of it until you mentioned it. It all makes sense now LOL!~ coz it always happens after cleaning them.

Do your ohms go up a notch or two after cleaning them? Just curious...

This has happened with clearos and glassomizers. I don't know, I never checked resistance after. My guess would be resistance would go down after cleaning, as a gummed up coil has more resistance than a clean one.

I don't dry burn anything I can't take completely apart and have just the coil to burn.

Isn't that dry burning? Coz yes we want to burn the coil to clear off all the gunk.. :)

Well i just bought a new pack of coils. Hopefully these will last me longer. But i got the ones with the post on top of them.. The sound when im vaping is absolutely noisy lol.

I don't know what version heads you're using, but I just rinse mine under really hot water for like 5 minutes and I'm good. No dry burning at all and I get about 2 weeks out of my coils.

Im not sure myself.. They look like these:

You rinse and then put it back into the tank without waiting it to dry?

Also on my protank 1 a single coil vaped on a single type of juice will last me a month or so.. With probably 3-5 times of washing and dry burning. Now that's long LOL. 2 weeks per coil is kinda fast to me.

Not sure why no one else said it but you are using the wrong coils for a protank 3. Those are single coil for a protank 1 or 2.

In the picture below, the dual coil for a protank 3 is on the left. Older single coil like you pictured is on the right.

I've never dry burned the dual coils after rinsing out. Rinsing out and letting dry for a day seems to make them last another day or so if I am in a pinch for a coil.

Kanger makes two kinds of dual coils--with wicks sticking out and enclosed. Actually, there are also two kinds of enclosed dual coils--with four small holes and with two larger ones...

All coils with exposed wicks can be easily taken apart for cleaning--just remove the center airflow shaft (chimney) to expose the coil, rinse, dry burn gently, rinse again, and put it all back together. The enclosed ones are more difficult to clean.
