Problems with threading on ego batteries and chargers

I've had a recurring problem with the threading on ego batteries and/or their chargers. It seems that with time and use, the threading erodes to the point of no longer plugging in correctly to make contact and charge. I have sometimes used rubber bands to allow contact, but this is a hit and miss solution, mostly miss... Is there any recommendations by anyone with a similar problem? Sometimes I think I have a charged battery only to have the charge last a mere couple of puffs. Is there a war to rethread either the battery or the charger? Please, any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
