I was just told by my in-laws, they saw on the news that vaping is just about as bad for you as cigarettes because of the chemicals they put in the flavorings. WHAT? are people really that stupid? I thought it was all food product they put in the liquid. I think the FDA is behind all of this because they are ...... that they cant make money off of it. So they are trying everything they can to be able to tax it. What are your guys' input?

Just about everything on the news is just gossip. It's very rare to find good real reporting on the news these days. Even what some consider good in investigative reporting is always biased one way or the other. The only thing factual on the news is the traffic and weather reports, and even the weather is wrong about 50% of the time.

Believe it or not, there are people on this forum who think vaping is the same as smoking and should be restricted in the same way.

Your in-laws are very misinformed. I would suggest going to CASAA, join if you haven't already and support them if possible. You will find a wealth of information and the latest study out of Drexel University in Philly that confirms that vaping is safe for the user and those near-by. This is an independent study.

We all need to join and support CASAA to fight this type of ANTZ mis-information.

I saw a thing on the Today show the other day and it made me crazy. They said that vaping was a gateway for kids to start smoking. They have it completely backwards!

Its really starting to tick me off. I just read an article that was all about kids "using" e-cigs. They are calling them "nicotine delivery devices." I call BS on that! yea i am currently at a 24 nicotine level, but i know plenty of people that do not even have any nic in their devices.
They always said analogs were bad for you and all these ads saying you need to stop. Ok i stopped, but now they are trying to convince everyone that e-cigs are bad.

kindly remind them that the artificial flavoring they enjoy and ingest multiple times on a daily basis are NOT what we use, along with propylene glycol, and vegetable glycerine...we use the artificial flavorings found not to contain Diacetyl, which has been shown when heated can release harmful chemicals...

As we see it, what we are removing is the MASSIVE amounts of KNOWN harmful chemicals contained in analogs (that many aren't aware of, even if they are..are they truly AWARE of the damage those chemicals have on the body with years of use) the trace element stuff is really a moot point when compared to the amounts REALLY found in analogs

Nicotine, Tar, and CO Content of Regular Cigarette Brands

Time to educate them...show them the truth!

Well i don't agree with those people. I am going to be completely honest. If they control e-cigs like they control analogs, i will probably go back to analogs. I am going to check out that CASSA right now.

Edit- I really liked this article!

You should not be surprised that NBC is very anti-vaping. When you look at the history of the attacks against vaping from a political standpoint going back to 2009 and how certain networks strongly support this political perspective, it makes since that NBC and MSNBC would be against vaping.

Fortunately there is at least one national news organization that has aired 3 - 4 positive and supportive segments on vaping going back to 2011 with John Stossel's initial take on vaping. Here is a thread that will provide additional food for thought:

Right? the way i put it, which isn't very true but i said it anyways is, " so you guys never cook food on the stove top?"
The vapors they are consuming when they cook certain foods is almost to what we are vaping. As far as i know.

Just last night I watched something on seattle news about it. The cdc spokesman said there is no proof that it will help you quit smoking and its not safe and not regulated by fda and a gateway for kids. Guess they would rather have kids smoke. He also said a bunch of other crap that continued to make my blood boil...

Sad thing is most people see the news as pure fact and will hang on to what they hear with a kung fu grip. We really need to start to speak louder before were drowned out in all the hype...

Informational bias confirmation... people will here and remember what they want to hear and remember...

Or as Mark Twain said :

“It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.”

― Mark Twain

he also said:
"Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times."

― Mark Twain

Have you joined CASAA, yet? CASAA is "us" and our collective voice. We all need to join and support CASAA if we don't want vaping severely restricted. Hopefully, soon, we will see every ECF member with a CASAA banner at the bottom of their posts.

The contents are pretty much all food additives. Also used in medicines. In hospitals even. Also, fog machines. :)

If the flavorings are bad for you, we got a bigger problem than a few vapers. Those of us who do our own mixes (and I ain't no DIY expert but I get by) buy flavorings that are used in baking and candy making. Like, oh, here's one example (out of several):

LorAnn Oils - Flavors, Essential Oils & Supplies for Candy, Baking & Crafting

The blueberry vape I'm using as I type this post is made with LorAnn. You'll notice if you go to the LorAnn site I link to, there's not even a hint of "e-cig" on it. It's all about making candy and ice cream and such. I'm using the same thing you put in blueberry muffins or such.

In fact, the more I get into doing it myself in the mixing thing, the funnier these "The! Chemicals!" accusations sound to me. As I know more about exactly what I'm putting in my vape, the more it occurs to me that it's probably healthier than about 99% of the "snack foods" on the shelf at the market. You wanna worry "chemicals", read the labels on a "snack food" sometime. See if you don't drop the stuff and run. :)

Absolutely, the same day I joined ecf and found out about them. That doesnt mean we shouldn't speak out on our own or help spread the truth about vaping. The more voices the better, there are big players out there with lots of wind in their sails...
Before it gets said, I don't approve of kids smoking at all, even vaping...
