Alright so I haven't bought a rba yet, i decided to buy some 3m silica wick and kanthal 32g wire and practice rebuilding the heads of my vivi nova 2.5 tanks. I have successfully rebuilt 4 heads now and I believe this to be great practice for when i decide on what rba I want, but everyone of the heads I've rebuilt so far have not registered to the standard ohms of the head. I rebuilt two 2.8 ohms heads and both register at 2.0 ohms and 2.1 ohms. I have wrapped each wick 5 times and there is equal spacing between each coil what can i change to get more ohms out of my rebuilt heads?

the ohm reading on the head is just what it came with from the manufacturer and even then its not completely accurate, now that youre building them, the ohm is in your control. you want the higher resistance use more wraps or higher gauge wire, such as 34g, 5 wraps of 32g at 2ohm is pretty normal.

And for what it's worth I agree... you might find you like 2.0. It's what I re-wrap at. Fires nicer than the 2.8 factory coil did and works great even on a cheap eGo. Still, before you buy an RBA, etc. make sure at least a multimeter is on your shopping list too (or Vamo, etc.)

Unbend a paper clip and make a short straight piece. Place a 2 and 3/4 inch piece of your 3mm silica wick on top of that and do a 6/5 wrap with 32 gauge kanthal....wrapping close and firmly but NOT real tightly, remove paper clip

.....this should give you about 2.6 ohms
