You know, these politicians have no sense of justice or logic. Why don't they pay for the addicts and bridges with the money they claimed smokers were costing in health and productivity losses as the vapers are saving them those costs. Of course they were in reality just marketing slogans so there really is no savings.

How about taxing the legal Drug businesses for their pills that get in the hands of addicts and double the fines if the drug addict is getting the pills legally via scripts. We just had a local doc get what works out to a life sentence for his decades long illegal script writing.

They cant say they will use the money for smoking cessation, as we are at almost the bottom of the pile in money spent in such programs!

New Jersey is the only state in the country that doesn’t spend state money on reducing smoking, according to antismoking organization the Campaign for tobacco-Free Kids. Its adult smoking rate of 17.3 percent is 13th lowest in the country, while its cigarette tax is eighth highest.

I'm not surprised that they're Democrats, Kent.

I'm also not surprised that Gov. Christie (R) wanted to tax vaping to fund public health - including, I believe, anti-smoking efforts.

Surely the irony of this is lost on few vapers.

BTW this proposal here is to tax methadone right? :D

(Granted, the analogy is hardly perfect. But I still give Christie the irony award.)

for Roger:

Sen. Joseph Vitale (D-Middlesex)
Sen. Fred Madden (D-Gloucester)

plus, again the main sponsors of the bills against ecigs in NJ:

Identical Bill Number: S1213
Last Session Bill Number: A2772 S1887

Conaway, Herb, Jr. (D) as Primary Sponsor
Chivukula, Upendra J. (D) as Primary Sponsor

New Jersey..........swimming in a cesspool of corruption. In reality, a loooong history of corruption. I gotta believe that tons of taxpayer monies are funneled in some way or form to pay for the crooked double, triple and quadruple-dippers collecting multiple state pensions in NJ. NJ is well-known to have thousands of these types of pension abusers. It is also fairly well known that the state has trouble funding the pension system.

To think that New Jersey was among the first to rush through legislation against e-cigs, likely to be one of the most significant public health inventions of our time, is just mind-boggling.

IDIOCY, plain and simple.
