Propylene Glycol Vaporization/Atomizer Temp??

Hey Vapers

Been trying to nail down the temperature for the average atomizer (steel bridge type) and the vaporization temperature for PG and VG.

I have found a range of 140F-300C for the atomizer temperature but 370F (188.2 C) for the boiling/vaporization temperature of PG.

Let me know if you have any information you can share

Hmm, I'm thinking that because the juice isn't comprised of only PG the boiling temperature of the liquid is different from straight pg. Wish I had an IR temp gauge.

looks like you switched F and C on your first set of numbers...

anyway I get 180F for the temperature of a 510 atty coil

I see this as a good next step, but I see temperature control as the ultimate mod. Monitoring temps would be the ultimate method of ensuring a consistent vape. The temperature of an atty varies widely with the saturation level of the coil. A dry coil runs hot and a flooded coil runs cooler. Introducing temperature control would extend the life of an atty by preventing overruns when the atty is dry, which is an atty killer. Maintaining the coil at say, 200 degrees celsius, would provide vaping at low saturation and would increase the wattage to a more highly saturated atty to still provide a consistent vape. The endpoints of saturation would limit the vapor level, but would provide consistency within the ranges of acceptable saturation.

I see temperature control to be the sweet spot in vapor production. The ecig mod of the future may even advise you when the wick is under or over saturated and provide juice feed control to maintain the perfect vape. In the future, we may discuss how certain juices vape best at 192 degrees celsius and others like 197. Right now, we talk about voltage, soon to be wattage, but eventually it will be temperature control. The technical issue will be reading the temp of the coil while allowing any atty with a matching thread to be used on a mod.
