I'm convinced people don't understand what it is. Every time I try and explain what's in my ecig, I get the "You mean antifreeze?!!!!" No, I don't mean antifreeze. PG happens to be an additive in antifreeze, but so is water. Doesn't make water the dreaded antifreeze.

I was actually in a whole food store looking for some PG to DIY with. The clerk tried to tell me that PG was super toxic, and if I ingested it I'd die. Meanwhile, one of the flavor extracts I pulled off the shelf had PG listed as the second ingredient. When I pointed this out to her, she told me they're trying to phase it out *facepalm*. I don't understand people.

i worked in an organic grocery store for a little bit. while i'm an overall enthusiastic of organic and natural hippy goods, i will admit there are fits of fanaticism. there's a portion of advocates with a vendetta against propylene glycol, and a bunch of nonspecific symptoms are credited to it. i dunno. i'll admit pg didn't sound as friendly as vegetable glycerin at first, but now that i've done enough research into it i'm pretty indifferent.
many products have disclaimers against pg. little cards with unsafe food and cosmetic ingredients often included pg. these types of information are definitely in circulation.
when i was vaping my coworkers were pretty shocked to hear that i was using nicotine and pg. these things seemed to be as scary as cigarettes to them, and they were convinced i was deceiving myself for choosing pvs as a harm reduction method. it took a little bit, but through more conversations i feel as if my coworkers were a little more informed and thus able to form an opinion not wholly condemning.

It's also "organic", as in it's an organic compound (chemically speaking, since it contains carbon), but I'm sure that's splitting hairs for a lot of people. It's basically an alcohol sugar - not that calling it that will help the image any. Complex sounding names scare a lot of people - but it's interesting how it's relative.

They are getting it confused with Ethylene Glycol. Propylene Glycol is not a household name..... But Ethylene Glycol is because it is used in cars...

Well some time ago, Propylene Glycol did replace Ethylene Glycol in many antifreezes (though EG is still used in some). But, the reason for this was to make antifreeze a lot less toxic, and a lot more safe in case of accidental ingestion, and safer for the environment. That's a little fact that most people aren't aware of, and won't listen to if you try and tell them. They just have the idea, that if it's antifreeze, it's bad.

When I first started vaping, and told my ex sister in law about what was in it, the second I mentioned PG she says "That's in the stuff we de-iced planes with at the airport!" And me being green had not much to say back, not to mention she's a very strong personality. Very awkward at the time and I'm glad I know better now how to address that. (I'm sure she's still smoking afraid of the horrible PG!)

PG is "anti-freeze" ... Yea, right.
That lie was started by the FDA in an attempt to scare
people away from e-cigs to protect BP sales of nic gum,
patches, and Chantix ... Everyone knows the FDA is owned by BP.

This country is like a "college chick" after 2 Long Island Ice Teas
We can be talked into anything
Bill Maher

I've found it easier to show people a video than try to convince
them that what they heard about PG isn't true and just rumors.
Good video because 1st it explains what e-cigs are then goes
into great detail explaining the truth about PG

Store clerks are the best...I walked into a GNC the other day looking for some vitamins for my wife. I asked the clerk about this brand on sale and he said 'you don't want that, it is for something else, you need this one'. I compared the ingredients and it could have literally been a photocopy of the labels...exactly the same everything and amount. The one he told me to buy required a down payment and financing! I walked out...

Obviously your in the minority of Americans who are capable of critical thinking.
Most would have just blindly believed what they were told.
