anywhere my broomstick takes me
Ive done alot of reading about the fda harping and trying to scare the vast majority of people about the fda's take on propylene glycol..

anyways..

So, the other nite after a lovin session with my better half, I decided to read what the ingredients were in the bottle of "astroglide" lubricant..

No laughing yall..

anyways, i found the ingredient propylene glycol..

I was like:w00t: lol

this propylene glycol is in many products, jmho

I dont belive it to be a hazzard to my health..

the fda, uses smoke and mirrors and a twist on words to make the general public belive that propylene glycol is bad..

i dont belive the fda, and if propylene glycol is safe enough for my v jayjay, then its safe enough for me to vape..

jmho and my 2 cents lol

Astroglide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

eta, if anyone has a bottle of astro glide, read the ingredients lol __________________

I just found this at Protect Your Pet During Winter and Cold Weather : The Humane Society of the United States

Near the bottom of the page it says, "Better yet, use antifreeze-coolant made with propylene glycol; if swallowed in small amounts, it will not hurt pets, wildlife, or your family."

wow..

eta, ya know, ive been thinking about making a list of all the many things that i come across (over time that is), that has the ingredient propylene glycol in it..

I wonder just how many products out on the market have the ingredient in it?

it just burns my broomstick, that the fda is complaining about the harm of propylene glycol, when its often found in many things we use..

jmho, I think its all smoke n mirrors, and i think its all about $$$$$$$$, control, etc..

I mean i find something that works for me, ( my pv) and certain powers that be wish to ban, etc, or take it away from me?

This is the part that gets me...

ATSDR - Public Health Statement: Propylene Glycol

"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified propylene glycol as “generally recognized as safe,” which means that it is acceptable for use in flavorings, drugs, and cosmetics, and as a direct food additive. According to the World Health Organization, the acceptable dietary intake of propylene glycol is 25 mg of propylene glycol for every kilogram (kg) of body weight."

Where has the FDA said propylene glycol is not safe? It's GRAS from the FDA. It is widely used in many products, from skin products to medical inhalation products for those with lung problems. PG is not and never has been an FDA concern.

The FDA's concern -- flawed though it was -- was for TSNAs found in vapor (no greater than those in nicotine replacement products from Big Pharma) and a singular instance of diethylene glycol (a contaminant that should NOT be in our liquids or vapor).

Our liquids do lack quality control. Surely we can admit that, since we know nothing about manufacturing conditions. But concern about propylene glycol, even inhaling it, should not be high on our list. Worry more about the LONG TERM consequences of the entire chemical concoction we vaporize and inhale.

I guess i stand corrected on the fda and propylene glycol then eh?

just so much info that ive read, i guess maybe my old brain and eyes have gotton things mixed up?

at any rate, i feel the ecigs are much better for me than a analog..

my body tells me im feeling great and i know for a fact that I can slow the progress of my copd using a ecig rather than a analog..

im down to 1 copd medication now instead of 4..

I suppose reading so much info on the forums has been soaking into my brain, and its hard for ole witchy to asorbe so much info as pertaining to my health, as pertaining to what the fda says, etc.. know what i mean?

forgive me if ive got it all wrong..

all i know is, i want to keep my ecig legal..

it hurts me that their are people out there wanting to take my ecig away..

Your health improvements are very real. You can credit many with the fact that you quit sucking tobacco smoke into your lungs. But some are likely real benefits of vaping. We just haven't been able to separate which is which yet. We need clinical studies done, that's for sure.

Keep at it and congratulations on breaking the grip of cigarette use.

This is about the only thing we can say with certainty: In two years of use by a million or more people there has not been a consequence from e-smoking serious enough to make news reports. Can we say the same about childrens' toys, peanut butter, infant food, beef, real cigarettes?

The doctors I see do not give any credit to vaping. Staying off cigarettes is the only goal they recognize. I've explained vaping to them, but it is not an FDA-approved therapy so they reject it.

Not all doctors feel this way, but mine and many more do. Until the safety and efficacy of e-smoking is certified, it will not enjoy universal recommendation from the medical community. Much work remains to be done for e-smoking to take its place as a legitimate alternative to those quitting cigarettes.

We are pioneers proving a new practice.
