Protank 2 broken stem

Both mine and my girlfriends protank 2 have broken at the center stem. I broke mine when screwing the bottom base back on and it turned the bottom of the tank and the threads on the center stem snapped. Hers broke the next day and I don't even know how. She set it down on the counter and came back 10 minutes later and the top section just fell off. How many other people are having problems with this? I wish the center shaft wasn't made of thin weak brass.

Calling it brass would be generous. Looks like you have 2 parts tanks. Hasn't happened to me yet. I bought 8, knowing some wouldn't last long.

True, unfortunately I can't make one good one out of the 2 broken ones. I don't want to buy any more until they fix this problem. Other than that I really like them. Back to the protank 1 for the time being.

It can happen, but typically the problem comes up with a drop or a fall. If it's happening when you screw it on, or when it's just sitting there, you may be tightening down a lot more than necessary. None of this stuff should be screwed on so tightly that you can't unscrew it in a single handed operation. For me: 6 months on a PT - hasn't happened yet.

I replaced the bottom caps with Tatroe stainless steel ones before I even used them, as I have read the 510 connections are weak.

Just got my PT II and have had no issues with it yet... In fact it's my favorite tank. Thank you though for the heads up so I can be more aware of this possibly happening. Sorry though for your losses. They are a little more expensive than other tanks so one would expect them to be better made.
