i tried that with my PT2 and Protank Mini II (v2) but it won't fire. Cool idea for those that can though!

Won't fire? You mean the mod isn't seeing the coil ?

You just put the miniprotank base with coil onto the battery; so long as it fires there, screwing the protank or the miniprotank on top of that isn't going to stop it from firing.

I didn't take the base off the PT, missed a step!

Now it works, and also just saved my husband's old tank. My daughter broke her mini today so I used the base on his. Mine looks pretty sweet this way though. It can't last, sadly. Since I need that base for my mini...lol

You know what I found odd? Today, just for kicks I popped a problem protank II on my mvp...works just fine. on an ego style? nope.In fact on the mvp I have to cover a hole in the beauty ring so it isn't too lose on the draw.

I also have an MVP. Maybe I ought to try the plug the hole in the beauty ring trick and see how it works.

I also drill out the two airholes on the base of the mini to about 2 mm diameter; about as big as could ever be needed; if I need to prime a dry coil, I just cover the holes with two fingers. Most of my airflow restriction - if any - comes from the top wicks especially when the cotton expands

I have a few PT2s and one PT3, they would occasionally leak until I put the airflow control valves on them. Just upgraded to an IBTanked today, so they will probably not be used too much anymore as this blows them out of the water, in terms of flavor. I have noticed Kanger's coils seem to have QC issues, and quite a large percent of the ones I (and my friend with a PT2) have used either leak bad or don't last as long as the rest.
But, to the point, the airflow control valves made all the difference in the pleasure derived from the ProTanks. And on my iTaste VV3, the PT3 delivers a real good taste and ....loads of vape, but the flavor on my new IBTanked with the Smok carts is so much cleaner it is surely my new daily driver.
