Hello, I'm constantly crusading to convert smokers to vapers, and I am trying to put together the "perfect" package that will provide a good experience with minimum hassle.

Before I moved to rebuildables like Ithaka and Diver, I used a couple of Protanks with the Tatroe steel tanks. I rebuilt the coils and did all kinds of experiments, but I never really fully addressed the problem of eventual gurgling and spitting.

So, for those who have been using the new Protank 2 for a while, are you experiencing these issues? I don't want my new disciples to come back to me complaining that the Protank 2 has this issue.

I would hate to have to deal with apostates.

Gurgling and spitting = flooded protank

My protank 2 is on the way, but I can tell from protank 1 since is more or less the same,

If you are rebuilding the coils and using thin high pg juices you must have extra top wicks above the coil like factory made coils, the coils came with 2x 1mm in top of the coil you should try that way, if you found your vape dry then remove 1 of the extra wick.

I have the same leaking gurgling issue when i remove the top wicks, since i vape mostly 70/30 blend my coils always have all top wicks. Works perfect

If you are using thick high vg juices you may need to remove 1 top wicks but always start with all wicks and remove as needed

I hate my protank 2. Before getting into it I would like to say that I love all 6 of my protank v1s, and both of my protank minis.
As soon as I started using the v2 I immediately notice juice in the top of my mod. Figured it was a bad head, and replaced accordingly. I was right. No more leaks....from the bottom. I noticed after that I was constantly getting my juice in my mouth, and every time I pulled the drip tip, there was a small swimming pool of juice underneath it. I tried changing tips, changing heads, changing o-rings, and swapping bases in between the v1 and v2.
Nothing fixed the problems. I have accepted that my protank 2 will sit unused. Granted, I may have gotten an entire bad unit, but that doesn't change how jaded I feel on the v2.

While I don't hate my PT2 can't get pass the airyness of it.It only hits acceptable on 1 of my devices.Never got the PT1 and am glad I didn't!I don't get gurgling or leaking just AIR.Now I could plug up some holes or numerous other things but I feel u shouldn't have to do that.

Looked into gettin one of those airflow contollers but everywhere I look they are sold out.Any of u using these does it help?I can tell this would be a great delivery device without all the air. What devices are some of u using with these that restrict the airflow.....I have a vmax, vamo v2,buzzpro,mvp,box mods, spinners, bolts too airy for me on all of them.Would a SVD work better with them?TIA

I have 3 PT2's and at some point, all started leaking, gurgling, juice in mouth, etc. I tried a new base, new coils, newly rebuilt coils, cleaning, tightening, and so on. I finally (today) broke out the heavy duty (pink) Teflon tape and put 2 wraps on the tube threads. Only vaped about 1/2 tank but so far so good. I'll give it a little more time (and much more juice) and if it continues to work, I'll start a new thread with my "discover". Maybe the PT2.5 will correct this problem.

Genuine KangerTech Protank and Protank II here, with stock Kanger factory coil heads.

Zero leaking, zero gurgling and zero spitting.

I despise the idea of removing flavor wicks and I wish do evil, violent things to whoever came up with the idea. Not really.

Those things are there for a reason.

My second Pro Tank II isn't working as well as the first. It leaks out the side a little at times. Looking at the pyrex tube you can see a flaw around its rim that prevents a solid seal. The second one does not vape nearly as well as the first and is more prone to gurgling and flooding. I'm thinking about exchanging it.

I got my KPT2 last week and up until today it was vaping like a dream. Here and there it would leak and gurgle and spit at me but that may have been operator error; I don't have a needle tip to get my juice right into the tank, so instead I'd load it against the threads instead of on the glass. Had to keep blowing through everything to be sure I wouldn't get juice in my mouth, and I realized that wiping the threads and the head dry AND readjusting the silicone part made quite a difference, no more gurgling or spitting. Today I noticed it's starting to really mute the flavor and it sucks. I removed a wick and it still kind of sucks. I cleaned it out and it still kind of sucks. Changed the voltage, changed the heads (switching between the 2.something and 1.8ohms) annnnnd.... still kind of sucks.

It kinda sucks.

It was wonderful and then it kind of pulled a bait-and-switch on me and now I kind of want to go back to a T3S. Definitely stealing my boyfriend's.

Somewhere out there
So far, my PT2 is working better than my original PTs. The draw seems perfect, no gurlgling, no muted flavor, no metal taste with a different driptip. No dry hots, the stock coil/wick keeps up 50/50 liquid just fine. As close to perfect as I've had from any bottom coil. I plan on getting a couple more and I hope that QC is good enough that others will perform as well as the first.

However, I believe any bottom coil is susceptible to flooding/gurgling when either the liquid level is low or subjected to quick temperature changes (out of AC to hot temperature or in and out of heated building to cold air temps). Best practice seems to be to keep any tank topped up as much as possible rather than trying to vape them dry.
