Hello everyone. I have a protank 2 and the first coupke days wer great until today when I started getting a bad taste so I read a bit and found out it might be the rubber grommet. So I removed it completely. Is that bad? Its vaping good again right now. And does anyone know where I can get 3.0 ohm or higher replacement coils?
I bought my protank 2 for 15 $ at cravingvapor.com fast shipping. Received it in 2 days from texas to buffalo ny

Hi Famous and welcome.

First of all, which grommet did you remove? That silicone seal that seals the atomizer tube?

To your second question, I haven't seen any coils higher than 2.5Ω (also 2.2 and 1.8).

Its tasteing funny again but not as bad as before. The rubber piece right above the wicks. The big one in that picture. I just want to get the vape I was getting the first 3 days with my protank. Today is when it started getting weird.
I know I seen 3.0ohm somewhere but I lost the website and ikenvape has 4.0 ohm but is out of stock. I just want to hit between 4 and 5 volts

Hi.
I use protanks / II.. etc.... I have found this out over the time I have been using them. Any e-juices that may have a oil based flavor additive in them for flavor seem to tend to want to gunk up the coil very quickly. try to avoid them.
Also some juices that are on the thicker side will easily produce dry hits in a kanger. adding just a very small amount of distilled water into the equation can greatly affect not only the hit but the life of ones coil...

I currently am making my own juices and on a 1.8 ohm I can vape at 15 watts with no burn taste whatsoever.but usually settle in at 10watts and am happy with my vape production... note that running a lower ohm will produce higher temps and a much faster rate as a higher ohm will produce heat at a slower rate but can handle it for a more lengthy amount of time.

so with all of that said.. make sure you bring your juice into the equation as of what may be giving you the bad taste . i was experiencing the same thing when I first got my kanger.
As far as wanting a higher ohm you should look up on rebuilding your own if possible, it really not that hard and one can define approximately what ohm they may want to go for. its really not that hard to do and its nice to be able to define how ones coil is going to function depending on ones preference on how they like to vape their liquids.

PS. the top silicone grommet really only helps prevent flooding. if your not flooding with that removed it may be a indication that the current liquid you are using is on the thick side and you are getting dry hits, thus causing that bad taste you are experiencing.

That silicone seal is there for a reason--it seals the atomizer head. I wouldn't take it off. However, make sure it doesn't pinch those little flavor wicks--that will impede wicking and may cause dry hits. Some people even invert the grommet and claim it works. I've never done that myself, though. As for the taste, I can't imagine how that grommet can affect taste--unless it comes in direct contact with the hot wire and starts to melt.

How often do you clean or replace your coils? Dirty coils cause bad taste.

I was wondering about that, too.
