I don't change flavors much, but when I do I always either clean the tank/coil as best as I can, or I clean the tank and replace the coil. I am pretty sure that if you don't clean the tank/coil before changing flavors you will most likely continue to get at least a slight taste of the first flavor mixed with the new one.

You need to pulse dry burn the coils. There are lots of videos on YouTube on how to do this. I only do this when my coils get really gunked up or when I am switching from flavors that are really different from each other. If my coils are not gunked up and I am switching from one fruit flavor to another I don't bother with the procedure.

Unfortunately you will have to wait for someone a little more experienced, as I just got my Protank 2's last week, and I haven't cleaned either of them yet. Although I did watch a couple videos on YouTube about how to clean them, and they were very informative. I'm sure you could easily find a couple on cleaning the Protank 3 coils, I'd suggest starting there.

I have cleaned my Halo Triton tanks/coils multiple times though, but I was always able to clean them well enough with hot water to get the old flavor out. Of course with the Triton I could just squeeze the wicks clean while running water over them, I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to do that with the small Protank wicks.

Soak them in vodka (or everclear, if it's legal in your state - it's not in mine) overnight, let them dry out for a few hours, and then burn them dry a couple of times to burn off the liquor. If you don't get it all out, it's not going to kill you, you just won't get any flavor or vapor until it's burned off.

You also learn pretty quickly which types of flavors will stick to your atomizer and which won't. Changing between various fruit flavors shouldn't really be a problem, but things like tobacco, chocolate, coffee, menthol, anise, and other strong flavors can hang around for a LONG time.

I don't have nice tanks (kanger t3s), but I have a tank for fruity flavors, one for coffee type flavors, one for creamy (vanilla, custard, etc.), and one for tobacco flavors. I just rinse out the tank and coils in between flavors that are similar. A coil lasts me a while as I've learned to re-wick with cotton cheesecloth. I do have spare heads for when the coil finally burns out. Probably going to re-coil next, but by then I'll also probably be rocking at least one or two nicer tanks.

As for making drastic flavor changes with the same tank/coil... learning to re-wick and dry-burn the coil helps alot. A TON!!!

I do the same (have tanks for specific types of flavors), but when I change flavors I don't do any cleaning. I just fill the tank with the new flavor. If the two flavors go together, then you end up with a nice mix briefly, then the new flavor takes over. The only reason I'd take the extra time to clean between flavors would be if I only had one tank and the two flavors would totally clash... but I have a bunch of tanks, and pretty much all of my flavors go together anyway (I don't like anything fruity or minty).
