Okay so I was recently given a brand new protank 3. I have checked the serial number and it is a genuine product. I am noticing that every juice I try in the tank tastes pretty nasty and has a perfume type taste and tastes a little burnt. I have absolutely no idea what this is. I have tried changing the coil heads on 3 occassions and tried desperately to adjust the voltages and wattages to find the right setting but I just cant get rid of this funny perfume taste. I have tried soaking it in water for over 24 hours too but still I get this aftertaste that almost has a perfume taste if you understand what I mean. Some of the juices I have tried 4 different juices now and they all have the same taste so I'm baffled.... Im almost thinking of throwing the bloody thing away. Any other Protank 3 users have this issue or is it just me?

What kind of e-liquid are you using?

Not sure if this will be useful, but in terms of the 'perfume' taste, I got a similar thing with one of the Halo flavours I tried. I let the bottle sit unused for a week or so, and the 'perfumey' taste went away. Though it's really weird that you're getting this with 4 different flavours.

While some new coil heads could benefit from a wash prior to use, I have never heard of anyone getting a "perfumey" flavor from a dirty coil .... that sounds like an issue with your e juice itself. As far as the dry hits, that is the result of poor wicking with your coils.

If you are using a thick e juice, these often have wicking issues with bottom coil devices such as the Protank. To correct the poor wicking, you can either switch to a thinner juice, or try removing the rubber grommet from the stem on the chimney. I often do this to get better wicking with certain juices.

Another solution would be to take some tweezers and gently remove a few top wicks from the coil (Kanger is notorious for using too much wick). You can do this without removing the chimney, just gently grab a few strands of wick closest to the top, and pull them out.... Hope this helps. :)
