Protank Mini VS TS3?

Hi people,

I am pretty new here and I have a few questions about my protanks mini 2, and my TS3 clearo. I have an Ego-C twist, which I really like, the long ones that give me an all day vape without charging, and I started with the protank mini 2, to discover that they always leak, and trust me I seal them very tight and make sure the little rings are where they should be, and always , every time, on both of them , its either they leak, or it tastes like ..... I wash them regularly, but I feel its so much work just to be able to vape! If you have any tricks on the protanks mini 2 and leaking issues, those would be more than welcome, Im so tired of buying new products and disliking them. Then about 3 weeks ago I discovered I could get the TS3, or T3S not sure, the clearomizer for about the third of the price of the protank, and those are not rebuildable, but they dont leak, however I find that they would with the protank coils. Im just wondering, when do you know they are ready for garbage? How long can you go with a TS3 without buying any more, save for the coils?? I really appreciate answers here, I have been researching but god I could spend like 3 full days getting my answers its so frustrating:oops:

Pros and Cons...
T3S is dual bottom coil and contain 3ml of liquid, the tank is made from plastic (polycarbonate).
Protank mini 2 is a single coil, 1.5ml tank, made of glass (pyrex).

I think all of them have some leaking issues, I know the protank does leak, and I do experience leaks with the t3s, specially when the liquid is lower than the coil level, but sometimes also when its full. Not a big deal though, just clean it once in a while with a paper towel.

T3S is a single coil topper, not dual. The original T3 wasn't easily rebuildable, but required a whole new base and coil. The T3S is the later incarnation, and the coils unscrew from the base for replacement. (And the MT3 and MT3S are the same animal, just with a metal jacket.)

The PT versions you have use a similar coil, but it's slightly larger at its widest part, and will NOT seal in the T3S. I've had good results going the other way - using a T3S coil in a PT2 / mini base - since the smaller diameter will go into it and seal.

Yes, the T3S holds more liquid, and is poly, so you need to avoid the tank cracking liquids.

Where was your mini leaking? Hard to offer any suggestions without knowing that. I have no problems with mine...

And I have a couple of earlier T3 and MT3, now with converted bases to take the coil replacements, that are approaching a year old. The tube and base will last a LONG time if not dropped and broken!

Coils? Depends on a lot of variables. Normal use will gunk the coil and wicks, but a good clean and dry burn, maybe replacing the flavor wicks, will extend that. I rotate several toppers, with different flavors, so it's hard for me to say, but they can go a long time. The gunking and fall-off in performance may happen with one or two fills if your flavor is dark, sweet and thick. Maybe 4 or 5 fills if light and thin.

That's when you dry burn. Done properly, they come out almost like new.

Easy to get confused. Seems like each time a manufacturer puts out something a lot like, they change it! Hard to keep track :)

I have a couple of the Davides, one older with single coil (T3S head compatible) and one newer with their DBC head.... although easy enough to swap it back to T3S style.

I hear a lot about the T3S' leaking, but I have 4 in use now, and 3 MT3's in use, and the only leaks I've gotten have been when I first got them and didn't know to check to make sure the coils were screwed in tight. They've all been working great for me. I have 2 of the Aspire DBC's, and have had no problems with them either. I use a variety of juces, some thin some thick, and all have been flawless. YMMV, but I only have good things to say about both. I use them on Spinner copies, at about 4v. I just got my tax return this morning, so a trip to the local B&Ms is in the cards for today. A Mini Protank or Vivi Nova may be in my future.:)

First with a bottom coil tank best to store upside down when not in use; gravity naturally draws the liquid downward.

Second, those coils do need maintenace; good to have several that you can cycle through and dry burn and replace the top wicks. I replace my top wicks with cotton; my latest test has been to put two wick, one stuffed on each side instead of one long wick going straight accross; the reason being with one long wick straigth accross it can reduce the airflow; meanwhile the original silica wick I don't interfere with, just dryburn first.

For a top coil glass system, there's a vivi nova; being topcoil it won't have that natural tendency to leak from the bottom; you just have to remember you might want to give it a twirl to wet the coil area once in a while.

I use BOTH. Plenty of them too!

I never had one complaint in 6+ months until last week. Now, I am staying off the T3Ss for a while.

I wonder whether I just suffered with a new juice being too thin for BCCs.

I have a few PT2 minis and experience very little leaking. I use 50/50 juice most of the time. Worst leaking episodes were while chain vaping thin juice. The tank heats up and the juice thins out and floods.

Top coils dont seem to flood but a dry hit is much easier to get (forget to twist, chain vape and so forth).

I much prefer the PT2 minis to the Vivi Nova. Its all personal preference tho.

Since writing this post, I have swapped out my Kanger T3S clearomisers for Innokin iClear16.

I certainly prefer the Mini P to the Mini Nova..... I did that swap-out back in July 2013.

For the time being, it's Mini P and iClear16 for me. (Tobaccos in the PT and fruits in the iClear)

Specifically, what does "dry burn" mean?

A dry burn is when, after rinsing your atomizer coil but before replacing the loose "flavor wicks" (the ones that are just sitting on top of the coil), you reattach the base/coil assembly, to your battery, without the tank attached, and pulse the fire button a few times in short bursts to burn off any gunk stuck to the coil and silica wick.

Don't try this with a cotton wick if you have re-wicked your coil. the cotton just burns.

Blow it off when done with a computer air duster or your lungs to blast away any bits of carbon.

Then put it all back together, fill and vape.
