I was actually just about to make a post about the same exact thing. But I feel it does it even with a new head/coil.
I have seen them come with 2 different beauty rigs one with cut outs one without, the ones with cutouts have a more open draw.
Im planning on drilling out one of the holes on the base a bit see if it helps.

Well, it appears that about halfway through a tank the vape gets thicker. Weird, if you ask me.

I've been feeling the same way. I've only had my PT for 3 days and it seems like it's giving me thinner vapor, and less of it - I like thick vapor.

And I usually like a tighter draw, but I screwed on a new EVOD coil-head (1.8ohm instead of 2.5), but it seemed even worse at the same wattage. Now I regret buying the 1.8ohm EVOD heads for my PT, I usually like lower-resistance too, but the standard 2.5ohm PT head seams to work the best for me

I ordered a vision spinner, thinking maybe the extra voltage will help.

Assuming you've currently got a Protank with the 2.5 ohm head atop a 3.7V battery, your vapor/flavor/throat hit are going to be anemic. Somewhere between 4.2 and 4.8 volts would get you the best results. Your new Spinner will get you there.

I'm guessing that the reduction in vapor when the juice level gets low is due to a bit of excess juice on the coil from to the slight pressure change in the tank and is probably also related to the gurgle some experience. A simple cure could be to take the tank off when the juice level is about 1/2, invert it, loosen then retighten the bottom cap to equalize the pressure, reinstall the tank and then resume vaping. Personally, I haven't experienced the vapor reduction or the gurgle when the tank gets low (yet).
