I would hesitate to polish it...don't know how thick the plating is. There is a wax made to protect metal on swords and knives that keeps corrosion well at bay, renaissance wax. I know museums use it to protect gold leaf and gilding on objects. Might work for you. I would try it on the bottom of the bottom cap and see how it does. It works very well on my copper mods.

yep, I would contact Provari like Oxygen thief suggested. Gold plating is very delicate, depending on how thick and how many layers were applied. I would not use a laquer they do more harm in the long run. What happens with clear coatings on brass, bronze and copper and sterling is that they do protect from tarnish for a while, but eventually they do tarnish and once it does there is no way to clean it without the coating coming off in layers and in areas and then you have a mess that has to be professionally buffed off and re-plated. That process became popular in the late 70s and 80s on antiques and other semi-precious metals a selling point for those who didnt want to polish and clean, but after a few years the items became tarnished anyway and lost all their value and had to be completely restored to save them.

If you do a search on google try looking up how to clean gold plated jewelry or guns? and see what suggestions you get.

Ask Provape if it was gold electoplate because that method really is much better and last decades without it wearing out. I have some jewelry that I got from the Metropolitan Museum of art that were gold electoplate that Ive had for over 20 years and has yet to wear or tarnish even with heavy wear against skin and showers.

It doesn't usually, but coming into constant contact with the acidity like on your hands with cause a chemical reaction. Some people can tarnish real solid gold , which is rare but it happens. Plus solid gold is different from plated gold because its a thin layer on top of some other metal, in the Provari im sure its stainless steel.
