When I ordered my ProVari I added 4 battery's, 2 x AW 1600 mAh and 2 x ProVari own brand 2500mAh battery's. I also purchased a Pila charger as they seem to be the most respected charger.

I am finding that the AW 1600 mAh battery's last around 8-10 hours and so do the 2500 mAh ProVari battery's!!

Why?

I thought that the 2500's should out last the 1600's

I contacted David at ProVari who is most helpful, he is as baffled as I am......he suggested that the Provari sometimes registered a used battery before it was really spent. so I kept taking out the so called used battery to extend the life by about 1 hour more. I wonder if it did not fully discharge if that would cause a problem over time?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Dirty contacts causes all kinds of havoc with the internal volt measurement. Cleaning the spring, and the threads on the end cap, and most important the contact at the bottom of the chip can change stuff big time. My 1st provari is almost a year old, and I thought the year old 18650s were dying. They would last about an hour or two and then dead. I take the bat out and reinstall and get another 30 minutes or so out of it, but it was blinking.

Cleaned that contact waaaaaay up inside the tube on the bottom of the chip with some scotchbrite on the end of a pencil, and BAMN, quadrupled my bat life.

One reason I can think of.... Battery companies do there own Mah testing, most companies overstate there mah by hundreds of mah's, the company that provari has make there batteries is probably no different. AW is one of a couple battery manufactures that do not overstate their mah. Just a thought.
