Hey guys,

Is the chip thats in the provari supposed to move a tiny tiny bit. If i stick my finger in the tube it moves a tiny bit. I can wiggle the chip back a forth. Is this normal? I understand it is glued in there and the movement I'm describing is very very slight.

I have a v2 and a v2.5 mini and if i stick my finger down in the tube and move the chip it will move a tiny tiny bit. I understand the chip is glued in but is this normal. My mini v.2.5 is brand new and doing the same thing my 2 year old v2 is doing.

The screws in the window have nothing to do with the chip (circuit board). They hold the window in only. The board is indeed sitting in a guide. And is glued with a dab of hot melt glue on each side of the board at the top. Sometimes this glue can come loose as mine did. A small amount of movement should not cause a problem. I had a lot of movement that was causing problems so I took mine apart and placed a small shim made from a piece of plastic between the head and the circuit board. This took care of my problem. The folks at Provape strongly recommend against my fix and would rather I send it in for repairs. I just couldn't part with it long enough for them to do it so I did the repair and decided if it messes up again I will bite the bullet and send it in to them.

edit to add: If anyone wants to take they're Provari apart. There are a few tube videos out there. Pretty easy to do.

Mitch65, I reread your post and to directly answer your question, Yes, some play is normal as the board is in slots in the sides of the tube.
I was thinking your problem was similar to mine where the board was being pushed up too far into the tube to the point I was loosing contact with the battery. Sorry bout that.

I never took anything apart. If you stick your finger into the tube you can reach the chip. well at least i can. I think its pretty normal but then again these are $160 devices so i thought i would ask. Both work flawlessly and fire every single time. no problems what so ever. I just happened to notice last night the chip will move a tiny tiny bit if u touch it with your finger. just wanted to make sure thats normal

I asked this yesterday and somebody told me to screw the window screws in tighter and it actually fixed that tiny wobble. Not sure who the heck to believe anymore, lol. Kidding. But yeah, don't think a tiny bit of play would hurt anything.

Ill try to tighten the screws a bit. It certainly won't hurt.

I have 2 mini 2.5s. In one the board wobbles a bit. The other is in there solid.
They both work exactly the same.

I would not be concerned UNLESS you noticed that the fire button was rubbing against the sides of the hole in the body. The fire button assembly is part of the board. If the button is not lined up then perhaps the board is moving too much. That might signal a problem. Anything less than that, I wouldn't worry about it.

Make sure the screws on either end of the window are down tight.

stevegmu, are the screws that hold the window long enough that they touch the circuit board on your Provari? Look up the tube with a flashlight. On mine and the others I have seen, there is quite a bit of gap between the window screws and the board. I had mine completely apart, circuit board removed and I didn't see any contact with the window or screws. In fact screws in contact with the circuit board, (any circuit board) would not be a good thing.

At first look, it appeared the one opposite the head is going into a little block attached to the board, but after careful inspection, it doesn't go down that far.
