Well I can't answer your question but I do know that the ProVari fires the coil when you check the battery or the coil resistance. I don't know if it fires it at the full output you have it set at or some lower level but it does fire during coil measurements.

With a normal coil put the drip tip to your ear when you check Ohms or Battery level and you will hear the e-juice sizzle when it auto fires.

Just an opinion but even if it did try to check the Ohms @ .8 I wouldn't think the measurement would be very accurate.

Do you mind if I ask why you want a .8 Ohm coil?

Lowest my V2 can read is 0.8 ohms and it will fire at 2.9volts. Resistance lower than 0.8ohms will not be read because it will hit the 3.5amp limit and error out.

Yes, I have found this to be accurate as well. And by comparing those readings with those of my Multimeter, it is a very accurate ohm measurement you get.

I also do not see the sense in an 0.8 ohm coil with a ProVari (assuming that is the OPs intent). Even if you succeed in building it, you can count on frequent errors if you put it on your ProVari. Maybe he is building the coil and checking with his ProVari to use on a Mechanical. If that is the case, you should invest in a Multimeter, OP.
