Provari Tatroe Base and Ring

Ok! I got the "ok" to send mine back and wait to exchange it with a polished one when they are released.

BUT...I have a question. What is the finish like? Its a polished stainless steel? So does it resemble chrome? I honestly hate chrome ( chrome SB, AGA-T, protank, etc ) I prefer a stainless look or a raw look. I know there is no finish on these but does a polish SS look almost like chrome? If so, I might not swap my white one out. If its more a stainless look like the Zmax, THEN i would love one! Judging from the only pic i can find, It looks more like a chrome?

Can anyone confirm?

Yes polished looks damn near like Chrome. Brushed is the raw look with nice uniform scratches(the brushed look) matte/raw is just plain metal no shine no pattern

From the pics it looks like its brushed like the provari top and battery cap is.

I assume you are looking at the same and only pic that is out there, correct? where it shows a half shot of the provari and the mini side by side? That picture looks like it is for sure polished, you can even kinda notice that the top cap still has the same brushed look ( which i like ) but the body seems to be a polishy/chrome look.

If the polished look resembles a chrome then i might end up keeping my white one i just got. I prefer the raw/matte/brushed look ( like the Zmax has )

I wish Provape would at least release a more detailed pic of some sort.

I'm talking about the finish of the tatroe ring not the provari. We are taking about how the sleeve extension and is quality & finish so i assumed that's what you are referring to was the finish of the extension sleeve from tatroe

The Tatroe's are what I would call a "satin" finish, not brushed. There's a thread in the Provari sub-forum where someone (I think Bob57) polished his set to look like they are chrome and posted pics.

I would not call my Tatroes base/ring Satin at all... It is definitely a semi polished, would not take much to bring it up to a High mirror polish... I did see some that almost looked Satin though... Baditude I bet your in for a Polished Provari when they are released... I know I am

Then we agree to disagree. I would still call my Tatroe's satin, there's really no gloss or reflection properties to them which I would attribute to something being polished.



And I'm really not a fan of metal-finished mods. All of mine are either black or some color. Just a personal preference; I've always liked colorful things. The same goes for my cartotanks -- nearly all of them are colored acrylic capped or colored anodized aluminum capped.

I see yours...mine is much more polised...has a shinny look to it... If you go to the website that sells the Tatroe base... Check out the base and ring...then check out where they sell the base alone... The single base is more Satin looking(like yours) vs the Base and Ring setup they show in pics.. The base and ring though not Highly polished, is semi polished and has some refletive properties... Ive always been more of a fan of the fine Satin finished mod.. Like a SuperT P+ has... Provapes aint to bad either just not as silky as the P+... I do plan on buying a Highly polished mini though

I got my Tatroe Base & Ring after reading this thread. I have to say, that this is some of the best machining I have ever seen. I used to have machinists working for me, when I build power plants. You can barely see the seam, between the base and the ring. I screws into the Provari, easily, and the action is smooth. Pays to buy stuff made in the USA. Thank you, great recommendation.
