Even with 3000 mAh batteries (have extender for the 18650), I occasionally find myself with a battery that has run down in the middle of the day. I just get forgetful. With my ProVari, all one needs to do is toss in another battery. After my experiences with Ego's and Riva's, I will never again buy another unit where the battery is not easily replaceable or where the whole unit needs to go on the charger.
Could someone explain the real advantage of constant wattage over constant voltage? In a regulated device like the ProVari is not regulated wattage almost the same as regulated voltage?Ohm's Law still applies to both: E=IR. Obviously wattage is a function of both resistance and voltage, and the Darwin controls wattage. The ProVari only voltage, and attys/cartos will change resistance during use.
And there will be differences in resistance from one atty or carto to another; but with either unit, we are going to play with the voltage/wattage setting to get the vape we want, cooler or hotter for a particular juice/atty/carto combination. Practically, I do not see much difference; although I would have the give the edge to the Darwin in this area.
I love my ProVari, obviously. Great CS by the way! I had an issue with my window and was back vaping within a week. Again, I will take a swipe at Vaprlife with their joke of a unit the Joker. It took them a week just to get back to me with a first response on a DOA unit. The story gets worse, but the response time alone is enough to qualify them as a garbage supplier. Before any of the Joker VV fans go after me again, I will gladly document the entire incident.
As far as the Darwin vs the ProVari is concerned, they are both great units with high tech but useful features and backed by good CS. Each will have its advantages. They are both the top dogs in VV right now with everyone else a distant second. The choice, in the end, will be a question of personal taste. You will have to select what features and design are important to you.
I have a Buzz as well. It's a good, solid unit with good support and costs a lot less than either Darwin or ProVari; but, it lacks performance and features. There is, as far as I know, a new one on the drawing boards.
