PSA: Careful Macbook / Macbook Pro / Macbook Air owners.

I just flipped up my my (errr now my wife's) Macbook pro and noticed it was not fully charged after being plugged in all day.
Still 39% .... Hmmm weird. I reach down to re-insert the magnetic plug on the charge wire and got poked in the finger.

Closer examination and there was a 3/8" piece of 28g kanthal sucked in between the computer and the plug by the magnets.

Now I can't get it to charge and have to investigate weather the wire shorted out the computer side or the power cord side.
Man I hope I only need to replace the charger.

Not just for mac owners I got poked in the finger with a piece after a coil session and thought I had them all cleaned up.

Hope the mac is ok.

Thanks for the heads-up. Those scraps are NASTY...I stepped on one. OUCHIE. Just checked my MBPR -- all is well.

Ya...and check your carpet too. Picking those scraps up in ones toes hurts too.

Wow that sucks. My life and portable office IS my macbook pro. I will definitely take note of it and I hope it's only on your charger side otherwise it's gonna be a costly fix. Do you have applecare? If so it would probably cover it.

Never would have thought of this. Good PSA! My Macbook lives in the living room. I coil in another room at a desk that doesn't share space with electronics.

So, on a related note, if you think you dropped some wire bits and can't find them, use a magnet.
