So yeah.. Ever had one of those Brain Farts where you did something so stupid you had to share? Well I have had more than my share, but the most recent was last night.

My sister-in-law uses a 5v box I built, and the reg just recently went out. While soldering up the new components I was incredibly shaky. I have no idea why but I was. Now for the stupid part. I thought "I know, I will just steady my hand. Yeah thats it!" So I rested the !HOT! end right on the side of my index finger. LOL:facepalm: Didn't even realize until it was sizzling and popping

Anyone else wanna share their stupidity? just so I don't feel so bad.. lol

As for the mod, if any are curious. it was just a simple 5v 2x 14500. Reg was a 4 pin 3amp from madvapes I think. No pics tho, and it is gone now.

I did nearly the same thing with one of those cheap soldering irons the other day. Its one of those with a plastic handle but about 3/4's of actual device is a metal tube and the tip sticks out the end. Well I was having a hard time holding the back end of it and putting the tip where I wanted it so I just decided to hold it right in front of the tip. Needless to say I found out that WHOLE metal tube gets as hot as the tip!!! Burnt the heck outta my finger instantly. Needless to say Im not soldering anything else till I get a better iron!

Wanna talk about dumb, I was at work working with an oxy/acetylene torch. A customer had a gate that the hinges were welded on to for some dumb reason. (it was a chain link fence) I made quick work of the broken hinges cutting them away and then in the same breath kicking them behind me across the concrete to get them away from me. One stubborn piece of flat steel didnt want to come off so I cut it into smaller section and melted the remeaing off and as I was melting the remaining steel I said man that sun is really beating down on my right foot. My shoe is sweltering. I coinued work on the piece for 2 mins and then Damn ... my foot is uncomrftably hot... It's starting to get sore... Oh crap!

A piece of the steel flatstock that i thought I had kicked behind me was stuck to the sole of my boot and I had been standing on it the entire time by the time I took my boot off the piece of flat stock had come all the way through the sole. heating the sole liner.

I tore the piece of metal out with apair of vise grips. Unfortunately they are ruined.
