PT issues

Twice now I have had my 510 PT melt the ends of the cart that was inserted.
The first time was not too bad, just got the horrid taste.
This time, just within the last hour, the end wa pretty much melted good and the taste was horrendous!

Is it because the PT is making the 510 atty hotter than the battery does?
I am currently cleaning the atty, but even with the new atty I am getting that toxic taste. Wondering if it's because the taste is in my mouth now. Going to go brush my teeth and gargle to see if I can get rid of it.

I am going to order a drip tip after this post and will only use the PT for dripping only.
I threw away the melted cart and took a new one and trimmed off the filler end so it doesn't rest as far into the atty, then dripped but still that taste is there.

Any other suggestions? Guess I should add its a in line PT, no batt box, from HotVapes.

510 atties get HOT, and even hotter on higher voltage devices - and thats fine, it doesn't hurt them but it can melt the cart edges lol
Just snip off a few millimters of the bottom of the cart (the bit that goes into teh atty obviously lol) and it will stop giving you issues.

You can also drip with the mouthpiece part of a cartridge. Just take the little cup full of filler out of the cartridge. Drip a couple of drops into the atty, slide just the mouthpiece part of the cart back on and vape. It's kind of pain to keep taking the mouthpiece off, but it works. I've also seen posts where someone drilled a bigger hole in the end of their cartridge so they could drip through it.

Well right now I'm using a cart with the filler removed. Yes a bit redundant but I prfer it to tailpiping.
Got a whole new fresh trimmed cart on there withe the clean atty and it seems better. Gargles and brushed my teeth too. Seemed to help.
My advice from my experience is when this happens, immediately put a new addy and cart on, do the oral maintenance to yourself, then wait a little while for the taste and residue to subside from your throat/mouth.
Gawd, that can't be good for me having inhaled those plastic fumes.

Its fine - Ive done it - I think most 510 atty users go through the melted cart funtimes - I used to smoke cigarettes you know, can't really be worse than that right? lol I drip (don't use cart filler but do like using carts as mouthpieces) so melting carts was something i noticed quickly because the taste is so different, I think its less easy to spot when youre trying to work out if its dry-filler flavor.
Scissoring off a few mm of each cart is a cheap and easy fix anyway.

You know what else helps with the nasty taste left in your sinuses is to take a steamy shower and clean out your sinuses as much as you can. Some here have reported using a Neti pot to flush their sinuses, but I just can't make myself go that far. The steamy shower does help, though.

I appreciate the attention guys.
Just what I did, used some snips and took the cart down to that first shoulder. Leaving just the portion that actually holds the cart on with friction. Then used small but stout scissors to trim edges smooth.

Figured i'd describe it so that maybe other new users can benefit.

Shower sounds like a good idea. My wife uses Neti Pot. Its something you have to work up to. I haven't tried it, don't think I will.
