I left my local movie theater last night and took a few steps over to this bin nearby that smokers usually congregate around (the kind with an ashtray on the top of it).
I was standing there vaping when I realized that I was basically free to vape anywhere I wished. Part of me wanted to think that standing there was a good way to introduce smokers to an alternative, but part of me also thought that my behavior was a remnant of my smoking days, standing around one of these bins. Thoughts?

In public I stick to where smokers are and I don't push the issue. I'm kinda wierd like that. It might be a old habit but for me its not so bad because most of the people at work and school are the people I like talking to who still smoke so I still hang with them. And I love being asked questions. I sold my Pink Silver Bullet to a fellow student and she's now vaping with me. YAY I'm not alone at school anymore LOL But we still both go outside with everyone else.

If I am at an event where there are hundreds of people and almost no smokers and I see some guy off by himself smoking I will go hang with him and vape and tell him about ecigs. Other than that, I vape anywhere outside, anywhere smoking is allowed, and I stealth vape in bathrooms anywhere (people's houses, a synagogue I was at for a bar mitzvah, restaurants, etc - my vapes don't smell like tobacco so its easy)

because i have been a smoker for so long i would be really uncomfortable vaping anywhere that i couldn't smoke. At work i still go outside where the smokers go and the chefs laugh at me saying why are you going outside when you can do that anywhere? but i just wouldn't feel comfortable doing it indoors.
At home its a different story though, i used to go outside to smoke but i don't have to do that anymore.

I don't make a point of vaping in non-smoking areas out in public - not that I think I shouldn't vape in those places, but more of avoiding confrontation. I'm not one to push the boundaries. I know that sounds odd since there's really no boundaries set in concrete for vaping in most places; but to outsiders, vaping is still seen as "smoking" in most ways.

This topic has been beaten to death. There have been about 50 threads on it. There is a larger majority it appears on this and other vaping sites that adhere to the principle that we are not harming others or breaking the law in most places and thus vaping openly should not be a problem. Many of us advocate vaping openly but respectfully.

Hiding in bathroom stalls sends the message that you are a little kid doing something bad. Perception is reality. If we present the perception that vaping is bad, then that is how it will be perceived. Many of us have vaped in resturants, stores, movie theaters, sports bars and even court houses. As long as you use common sense and are respectful, there rarely is a problem. We all need to be ready and prepared to explain the differences between smoking and vaping and be "good will ambassadors" for vaping. We all need to educate the uninformed or misinformed, not hide in bathroom stalls like a high school kid.
