Pulsing wire before coiling?

alright, I bought a 521 tab because i thought I had to have it. Not yet sure if it is a piece of junk yet, but it made me think. You can heat wire to straighten it before coiling,pulse it out, make it do something or other. So I'm wondering is there any benefit or use in some fancy coil build that requires preheating. Any thoughts?

Lots of people torch kanthal and nichrome before building with it. To anneal it. I guess you could pre-pulse the wire if you built a rig to do it with. I just twist or tension wire to straighten it.

I bought the 521 tab just for that feature having previously needed to transfer the atty to a mod to heat & check the coil.
I always pulse & glow a new coil to check for hot legs & an even heat.

Annel = new word to look up. So would torching be the same as using the 521 to fire a piece of wire before coiling. And if so what would be the benefit of anneled wire.

Yeah, that would produce the same results, but depending on torch/fuel being used, there wouldn't be any deposits leftover on the wire after torching it if you use the 521.

There are a lot of people that like to anneal their wire before wrapping the coil. It takes the "springyness" out of the wire, which many find it easier to work with. I've never liked to anneal my wire before the coil is wrapped, but I've always been a kanthal user. I've just recently started using SS 316L, and I think I'm going to start annealing/pre-heating it before doing any more builds with it, due to it being about twice as springy as kanthal. It isn't impossible to be consistent with the 316L, like I was with kanthal, but the first couple of wraps are a little more challenging for me to get proper.
