I use a pair of spring clamps on the lip of a counter surface to hold the carto in place while I punch it. Then I punch it with a wood screw and hammer. I find the wood screw works much better than a nail because it tends to slip around a lot less. I just do one rapid firm swing with the hammer to make the hole. To light or too hard and you can have distorting problems.

When I do mine this way, they don't come out warped or distorted what so ever. There is an ever so small dent right where the hole is but it is very small and doesn't effect the shape of the carto at all.

I've had the same issues using the Siam mods punch tool from Phiniac. Seems like the smaller holes don't deform too much, but it's often difficult to tell how big the hole will be since you can't view the punching process directly. Bigger holes do cause it to go out-of-round. It can't be good on the o-rings when that happens.

For the time being at least, I've gone back to buying the pre-drilled one and two holed cartos. I've had no issues with adequate juice flow with these, just choose the appropriate number of holes for the thickness of the juice. Only juice I've had issues with and had to punch the carto myself is with Boba's Bounty, and I'm not so sure it is even a carto-friendly juice. Thank goodness its not one of my favorite flavors.

You can buy a Dremel set for around $20 at Walmart and slot it instead you will like the slot much better.

Just be certain that there are no sharp edges from slotting. The rubber/silicone o-rings can be damaged from anything sharp, including the end of the cartomizer itself. That is why a lot of people have started using the "tank accessory" or "tank filling" tools from various distributors. I prefer the Big Daddy Vapors (slap yo momma) version as a better design (see pics below).

I have been using a carto jig and punch set from vapor-age.com. Back when I got mine, the punch tool was different. I have punched 100's of cartos, no sharpening needed. The punch that I have has a sharp point, and the diameter of the tool increases as it goes further up the tool(kinda like a pencil) so it stops at a certain point so it doesn't go through the carto far enough to cause damage to the air tube. Perhaps you could ask Jason at Vapor-Age if he still has any of the old style punch tool.

have anyone tried siam mods Stainless Steel Carto Punch V2?the review seems good

It appears to be identical to the Stainless Steel Carto Punch I purchased from Clouds of Vaper.

Post #8 is correct, but with patience you can learn to compensate for not being able to see hole placement and the lack of an audible pop when the hole is punched. Like anything else, it takes a bit of practice.

I was having the same problem. So I now wrap a layer or two of masking tape around the carto first, so it fits tighter in the puncher. This way it doesn't deform when punched and fits the tanks fine then. This is the type I am using,
