Ive been using the Siam mod carto punch for a while, works fine for a long time , then it gets real dull. Without have a specialized tool for sharpening Ive tried sand paper, and a dremmel to sharpen it, but I cant seem to get a real even diameter and perfect point. I have since discovered a wonderful tool, that barely leaves a dent, just slight. I got it at VIP electronic cigarette Aluminium Cartomizer Punch V4 - Cartomizers/Tanks - Accessories

They have excellent service and are the originators of the aluminum carto punch. It has a window to see how deep the hole is going, I twists like butter, so be careful sometimes its easy to make the hole too deep cause its so effortless. Doenst crimp the carto so it doesnt cause it to pinch and affect the flow. It was expensive but the screw is a Cobalt Tip so it will keep its point longer and they do sell replacements.

I am glad I found VIP.

I guess I wasn't asking how you did it (I understood your first post), just that if you do it that way, how do you get the bottom off? The problem, per the OP's post, is that the carto deforms and you can't get the tank on and off. If you do what you did in the pictures, the bottom piece of the tank is going to be trapped between the flange on the bottom of the carto and the now deformed carto? Making it extremely hard to slide that bottom piece of the tank up and down when needed to fill or remove it all together. Maybe your puncher works better than ours, or your tank is a little looser than ours, but that won't work for most. IMHO.

You make a good point I really hadn't considered that the tank itself may be a factor. The OP may be better off slotting the carto or simply purchasing pre-punched cartos.

Then again, as I think a little more about how this works...more correctly, how it works with The Liquinator tank...I never have to slide the carto pass the punched hole using the method described.

If I punch holes prior to inserting the carto into the tank, the indentation may prevent insertion or prompt me to try forcing the carto into the tank.

(No....that's not right either 'cause the carto can be inserted from either end of the tank.)

But if the carto is already positioned within the tank prior to punching my holes there's no problem. The carto will still have to slide for filling, but I can either fill The Liquinator by popping the drip tip end off or slide the carto toward the drip tip end and fill via the thread opening (if holes are punched very close to the thread.)

In any case, it may be more productive for the OP to pose this question to someone who owns the same tank.

yup, I have a few tanks and some are ever so slightly bigger than the others. So some will slide over a punched carto easily and some won't. As I mentioned above, what seemed to work for me was to put a wrap or two of tape around the carto first, then punching it. Wwith the tape on, the carto fits snuggly in the puncher, it can't deform when punched. Then of course remove the tape before using. But that would only work with the punchers that fit around the carto.

Thanks,

Can someone please recommend a cheap carto punch? I didn't see the siam mod punch on their website, and the $40 it's too much for a simple punch. For that price I can buy a dremel tool. When using the dremel does it leave the edges smooth so it won't hurt the o rings?
