Ok I just got this one a couple of days ago, so it sits for at least 2 weeks before the Vapenstein review, but here are some initial impressions:
Taken on it's own merits, this is an enjoyable juice. The bourbon flavor is pretty natural and not overwhelming. Throat hit is acceptable. The lack of cigar body is disappointing, but it vapes well and is a juice I will keep instead of trading off after reviewing. Nothing to hate about it really, and it's a nice, punchy vape.
As a cigar vape it fails totally. Nothing against Nikhil, like I said, on its own merits it is not bad juice. The problems I have with this juice are common to just about every tobacco vape out there. The following is not aimed at Pure Vapes, but at commercial juice makers in general:
Guys, "good enough" is not good enough. One of the reasons I don't buy a lot of non-tobaccos is that I know what flavoring companies most of you are using. I could make that at home, for a lot less money if that's what I wanted to vape.
"Good enough" is especially not good enough when it comes to tobacco vapes. Here we are relying on the vendor to provide us with something that gives us the qualities we miss from tobacco. Unfortunately about the most we can hope for is something that will REMIND us of tobacco, because just about all of you are missing the mark.
Premium tobacco is one of those things that can trigger passion and emotion in the right person. Everything that makes us love single malts, good food, very old brandy, good wine, music, well, tobacco is in that group too. These things are powerful triggers into a world of sense and pleasure. Memories and emotions become attached to those pleasures, and they offer a mechanism whereby we can experience and re-experience those things.
People seeking cigar and pipe aren't just looking for a nic fix. Cigar and pipe vapes made using artificial flavorings are a bad joke that is not going to appeal to anyone. The cigar/pipe lover is going to be disappointed or flat out offended, and that is your target. Most people are vaping mango bavarian creme menthol or whatever bs. That vaper is not buying cigar or pipe. The person buying a cigar or pipe vape is coming to you hopefully, wishing that your juice will provide at least the smallest portal back to the pleasure they received from enjoying a premium cigar or pipe blend. This customer knows those two models. Don't sell them a juice that isn't even a pale shadow of what they're looking for. Don't sell cigar or pipe juice if you've never smoked a premium cigar or an English pipe blend. It's just not good enough, and if you guys don't get it then I'll do something about it myself. #thatisall
Once again, the preceding tirade is not aimed at Pure Vapes, it's an industry-wide problem.
