After telling my mom about my 901 she really wants a PV for herself. The only problem I'm seeing is she has multiple sclerosis and is very forgetful, and sometimes has a hard time following instructions. It's not like she is mentally challenged or anything, more like rusty gears. I told her that it can be pretty high maintenance and a learning process, but she is determined.

She would really, really like to get a white one and she wants to be able to refill using her own liquid (to save $$). She is also going to want something that looks nice. She has smoked since she was 16, Marlboro Ultra Lights, is now 50 years old, at least a pack a day (more I'm sure).

I've looked at the 901 and the 510. 901's do not have a white cartridge (that I could find) and she won't have it (ugh!). The 510 seems like it might get a little too complicated, being manual, a juice hog, and low battery life. When I told her about the manual button it did kinda freak her out, but she loved that it came in solid white - preferred it actually. Don't question, just nod your head.

Anyway, I was supposed to order a device for her yesterday but I couldn't decide. Anyone have suggestions?

First of all, if there's a question of motor skills, I would recommended an automatic battery. Any problems with a manual battery will just cause frustration for the user.

The 901 is the most popular here. White ones are available, but I'm not sure at this time who has them. I will look around and report back.

EDIT; Midwest has the white 901 kit;

Will she accept a passthrough? that would solve most of the battery issues. Passthrough at home, and batteries while away from the house.

I would also suggest the 901, it's a good little PV and reliable.
Esmokeytreats has them is several different colors including white..

Fortunately, she doesn't have problems with motor skills but I'm in agreement with the automatic battery. Motor skills could be a future issue and I'd rather just keep it simple.

I really wanted to get her the 901 too but she hates the cartridge color. Do you guys know if anyone sells white cartridges for them? Or maybe there is a different model that carries white that will fit the 901?

Phayah:

My mother had MS also, but that was a long time ago... And she didn't smoke. That's pretty funny -- of our family of seven people, she was the only one who didn't smoke.

Anyway, I don't want to barrage you with too much information and too many choices, but I'm wondering if the "super-mini" might be the one your mother would like. Apparently it's the model that looks the most like tobacco cigarettes. It's shorter than the "mini" models shown above in this thread. Plus, those mini's have a tapered mouthpiece. Probably your mother would like a blunt end like on tobacco cigs, which is what the super-mini's have.

Myself, I have 510's, but they're a little longer than tobacco cigarettes. They do come in white, but it would be all white. I don't know if your mom is so particular that she would want an all white model, or if she would want one that is white with the brown/gold tip. Depends on what kind she has smoked. And the 510's have the blunt end also. And they're shorter than the mini's (but longer than the super-mini's).

So, I just ordered the below super-mini kit for a friend, who also wanted a kind of e-cig that looks closest to a tobacco cig. This is a good enough deal -- basically two of everything in the starter kit for $50-ish.

I don't have a strong opinion about manual or automatic batteries. I have both. I actually don't mind the automatics, as many people here do. On the other hand, it is true that the manual battery is easy to get used.

I'll be curious to hear what you get and how it is for her. It sounds like you don't smoke yourself, or you could experiment with models for yourself and then you'd know what to get for her. (EDIT: Sorry -- I see you do smoke. I mean vape.)

It will be a very wonderful thing if she can quit smoking tobacco and switch to e-cigs!

Oh, about the passthrough Jim. She is hardly at/near a computer.

I'm not always near my computer either. I have a 110v adapter, and a 12v car adapter.

I have my 110v adapter plugged into the wall right now next to the puter. My brother in law is sitting in the living room with his 901 plugged into the wall socket watching the boob tube. Really saves on the batteries.

Kath:
I'm quite new at this. I just got my own 901 a little over a week ago and after talking about my mom shocked me by saying she wanted one too. I think it would be good for her MS (reducing chemical intake), but we won't really know until we try.

She said just to buy the black 901, so I guess that's what I'm going to do. I still feel kind of bad because I know she originally wanted a solid white one.

Jim:
I actually need to order a USB passthrough for myself. I'm always at my computer. Should I wait and see if she likes it or go ahead and order the adapters?

If you ordered two passthroughs, and she didn't like it, you would have a spare. I honestly think, once she tried the 901, she would gladly use a passthrough if her batts went dead on her. Adapters are the same thing. If she dosen't like em, you got spares.

Nothing lasts forever. Spares are a good thing. Speaking of spares, get a couple of spare atomizers. You don't want to go flat in the middle of a good vaping session.

Yes, she said she wanted 2 extra atomizers and batteries (total of 4 each w/the set). She doesn't want to have to call me again to order it for her, she is a complete internet noob. :p However, I would LOVE it if I could get her to come here and check out the forum once in a while.

Oh, and she wants a huge bottle of Marlboro flavored juice, lol. I wish she'd try out samples first. I hated my first eliquid, cappuccino, ugh! She is stubborn though, so I'm just going to do what she says. A tobacco flavor is a good transition to start off with I think.

lol I totally understand on having to do what mom wants ;)
I have the pink 901 from emokeytreats. It came with some tan/gold-ish colored carts which I love. You could ask phil if he could get some white ones( I've only seen black and tan colored though) I've seen the round carts somewhere for the 901, there were orange though..yuck.
I personally vape Marlboro, RY4 most of the time, Red Bull for a occasional treat as it's strong to me but yummy but I can't do it all day long and bubblegum( my own DIY concoction, absolutely love it)
You might consider getting a few different flavors for her and what she doesn't like you could also use. I know also when you first start vaping your taste changes some. I started with Camel and hated it, a month later I really like it now.
The switch from analog to vapor your taste buds change so it might be good to have a few choices.
The Marlboro fair warning, doesn't taste like a Marlboro so give her a fair warning lol To me it tastes like one smells, kind of tobaccoish with a hint of sweet , almost like a honey.
Hope I've helped

Oh forgot to add...
You might want to look in to either a lanyard for her here..http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...fs-lanyards-hold-e-cig-juice-accessories.html
or a ecig necklace holder here.. Widows Bead Work - E Necklace

I have one that I made to hold mine and they are awesome.
Nice to be female and able to keep it neatly on your neck without losing it.
When I have to go clean the pool or do yardwork it's nice to slap it in a holder and not worry about losing it or having it loose in a pocket.

I've read here that a lot of people like RY4, it's a tobacco flavor right? Where do you get your juice?

I've only seen the tan/orange/black carts as well. I honestly don't think they have white cartridges for the 901.

Hi. ok, I also have MS and I'm in a wheelchair. I ordered the DSE 801 since the battery life lasts all day, I can just recharge it at night. I also wanted a white one, but couldn't find one at the time, so I settled with black.

I haven't smoked a cig since I got it last Sat., and I feel sooo much better since I've quit!, it doesn't matter to me what color it is. It has helped me tremendously!!, and I also ordered a manual battery to try it out. It's easy to use and I got 15 hrs on one charge. The other reg. batteries, last 8 - 10 hours too.

I got mine from AwesomeVapor.com I had alot of questions and emailed him and he got right back to me. Great customer service

I can't believe how much better I feel already! Tomorrow will be 1 week. I'm 47 yrs old and have progressive for of MS and I smoked for 31 yrs and tried everything to quit. I love my e-cig and enjoy vaping way more than nasty cigs. My taste buds are healing, my sense of smell is stronger, I have more energy now and just have a sense of well-being that I haven't experienced for years!!

If you're concerned about color of pv, EastMall.net has them in red, blue, pink, marble,(looks kindof like wood) and black.
