Hi ECF Veterans,
I've seen articles of e-cigarettes exploding. Would it also happen for PV?
Regulated mods are, by and large, safe as the circuit boards have safety cut off built in that are either temperature or time or power drain based. Some even have polarity protection and boards like the DNA even have circuit breakers.
These explosions usually occur when a battery is shorted or used beyond its specified range. In a mech mod, the firing button may be depressed in a bag or pocket causing excessive drainage and overheating. Past a certain point, a run away chain reaction occur in the chemistry and KABOOM. Same can occur if you carry a bare battery in your pocket and anything vaguely metallic shorts it. Same result.
Personally, I recommend you stick to good and reliable regulated mods (tons of
reviews available online and on this forum) and NEVER carry
batteries without a proper battery case or sleeve. And leave mechanical mods till you're ready and experienced enough.
