Again, I am fairly new to vaping, and new to this site. So If I am making any mistakes just let me know. I have searched for answers on this question here and even looked on YT and have not found anything. Question is, I bought the Arctic V8 tank and bought a pack of the V4's which say they are "Clapton Wire" (Bottom vertical quad coil). Now I am new, but everything I know about Clapton coils is that 1. Clapton is not the metal but rather the form of the metal to look like a Guitar wire (hence Clapton for Eric Clapton).. 2. Clapton wires, which is mostly made from kanthal wire, look like a guitar string so you can see the wraps...
Now my problem is, when I took out one of these coils to prime it with e-juice, I noticed they looked like simple kanthal micro coils (4 of them). I saw no Claptoning of the wire (the wraps). And the Box doesn't even tell you what metal is being used, it only says "Clapton wire".. So, is this coil even a Clapton coil? And am I suppose to assume it is Kanthal wire? Or is this just a marketing scheme to cash in on the new popularity of Clapton coils? So has anyone opened one of these coils up and saw the actual wire inside? I can only see maybe the first 3 wraps and it looks like normal kanthal coil. Now I do see what looks to be a soldering joint which is why I thought it is possible that the the first 2 wraps of it are regular kanthal, then for some reason, the soldered the Clapton wire for the rest of the wraps. Im not sure though why they would want regular Kanthal for the leads. It seems like a waste of time to me if that is the case. Thanks for the help and sorry for the long question.

True

Yes, it's a clapton coil. You might be able to see the clapton wrapping if you use a magnifier.
And am I suppose to assume it is Kanthal wire?
The outer wrap may be NiChrome or Kanthal. The inner core will most likely be kanthal.

Pre-made coils use NR-R-NR wire. "Non-resistance" wire is soldered to the "resistance" wire (in your case the clapton wire) so that the insulators don't get burned when firing the mod.
