Hi there, I'm not new to vaping but I am new to this forum. I recently purchased my first battery mod, its a 3.7v mechanical switch device and I've been using it for over a week now with great success.

However after fulling charging the two batteries it came with, which are unprotected 800mah batteries (I ordered protected batts and should get them soon), I stuck one in the device and screwed on a brand new 510 carto. Upon activating the switch I didnt hear the usual crackling sound and instead heard a very faint hiss. It didnt take long to realize the device was warming up, so I promptly took the battery out, which by this point was burning hot. I tried the second battery and had the same result, although I took the second one out long before it heated up.

Is it possible that the carto just fried two of my batteries, or did something else fail here? I checked the connection and it was clean and dry and the switch never got stuck. I'm also wondering if I shouldn't use either of these batteries again, one got very hot and the other only slightly warm. I decided to ask here before I tried using an atomizer or carto I know works. Sorry for the long post but I appreciate any solid advice.

I have both protected and unprotected 880mAH batts (my buzz uses either quite safely) and they all get slightly warm. Have you spoken to the mod maker about this? It might be worth asking if the use of unprotected is prohibited or not - and if not then it may be the device has just had a coincidental short.
Im not sure if a carto itself could fry a battery or a device but I dont build so I really don't know.

The device is a spark plug 2 and I ordered it in a kit that included these batteries. Both have since cooled off and seem to be fine on the outside, but I'm still cautious about using them again. I honestly cant think of any other reason for it besides a bad carto, but I could be way wrong.
