Hi,

just wondering. It appears there are two types of e-cigs out there: the ones that use a sensor that detects inhalation to start vaporizing and the ones that require you to push a button to start the vape production.

What happens if you push the button on a button type e-cig when you're not inhaling?
Does the vape pour out the back?

I know it sounds like a silly question but thanks for replying! :)

Cheers,
Gibrril

Most "manual" versions have an over-time cut-off. If the button is held too long, they just turn off until the next press.

Yes, they will vaporize some juice any time the button is pressed (if on, and if there's juice in the topper, of course!) Hard to say exactly where it will exit. Might be some comes out the air intake at the bottom of the topper, some might waft out the drip tip.

Many do use the 5 click on/off, some use 3.

The advantage of the manual is that leaks from the topper to the battery won't ruin the battery. If juice gets down into the auto and dries, the battery is likely no longer able to work. But autos can be convenient for "hands free" vaping. Just need to be alert to any leaks.

I'm sure you are thinking of the cigalike style batteries. And yes, they have the automatic style, which you have to quick puff 3-4 times to get the atomizer up to temp before you take a good vape, that is a good vape for a cigalike anyways, and they have the manual batteries, where you push the button down for 2 seconds before you start to vape. Cigalikes, approximately the size of cigs, hence their slang name here, are the first steps that many take on the journey to vape. They are at the bottom of the Vape chain, and leave most people dissatisfied with vapping. Most all other pvd's, personal vapping devises, have a firing button of some sort, that can be shut off and on with a combination of clicks. You have ego style batteries, Tube devices that hold a rechargeable and replaceable battery, there are box mods and mechanical mods, devices with Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage, VV & VW, pass-through, and then....... on and on. The best thing to do is search, search, search, review, comparisons, more search and review, then make an educated decision on your first vape gear. At the minimum, start with an ego style, not a cigalike, Personally, I'd recommend a Provari, VTR, or an SVD, with a Aspire Vivi Nova BDC, or an Iclear 30S or 30, or maybe even a protank on top. But no one will usually do that, saving time money and frustration, That's why I say to search first, then decide. We all have to learn the hard way it seems. lol

Good luck, welcome to the forum, and you can't turn off most cigalike batteries like you can a ego or tube or box or mech mod.

Every devices is different, no two are controlled the exact same way, I click my button 5 times, I am in the power up adjust menu, 7 times gets me into the power down adjust menu, 9 clicks I'm into the power off/on selection menu, then click again to turn on or off, 11 check battery, 13 check ohms, 15 light of/on, then it starts all over. Each time I get to a menu I have to wait a few seconds to allow the menu selection to engage. Not that you need to know all this, unless you get the beg P that is, just trying to demonstrate that everything has it's own method and madness lol and the need for research.

Vape long and Prosper!!

Thanks for the many replies!

I was thinking of using the e-cig for theatrical purposes and have the cigarette produce litte puffs of smoke to aid me in magically producing and vanishing small objects.
Does a manual e-cig produce such puffs when the button is pushed, or does it need something extra to create some sort of suction and "draw" the smoke out?

Thanks a lot,
Gibrril
