I agree with Beth Wing, sounds like there is some confusion about juice delivery device terminology going on here.

"Cartridge tanks" are kind of old school as far as juice devices go, but I'm aware that a lot of starter kits still come with them, and many vapors continue to use them. These combine two pieces: an atomizer and a tank end to end. Other than that, I'm not very familiar with them having never used one.

Generally speaking, a drip tip is often used simply as a mouthpiece for a variety of juice devices, from cartomizers and cartotank, some clearomizers, drip atomizers, and RBA's.

For a little more clarity in terminology of juice delivery devices, I've written an article of the more common ones in my blog:

It sounds to me like there should be a cartridge between them. Any way to post a photo or link to what you have?
Terminology can be hard to grapple with sometimes. A carto would be an atomizer and cartridge together in one piece.

Apologize for the lack of clarity. I am talking about a 510 atty that typically has a cartridge sitting on top of it. The atty and the cratridge are separate pieces. To use that atty for dripping should I place a cartridge on top of it and then the drip tip on top of the cartridge, or can the drip tip be placed on the atty without the cartridge between them?

My first Q would be what else was in the order you received? Logical to me would be that the vendor intends for you to use it with something else in the order.

But to answer your question, YES!

I can't think of why anyone would want to use an atomizer, cartomizer, or anything else without a drip tip.

    add:
I can't for the life of me figure out how you would put that cartridge between the atty and the drip tip.(or why you would want to)
But save those cartridges, they are great for baiting mouse traps, but they're the epic fail of vaping.

Is this what you have? This is what I was talking about in my first post. This is an atomizer tank cartridge, a two piece delivery device used with eGo batteries. The clear tip is the tank part where you add juice and it also serves as its own mouthpiece. (Sometimes this part is metal and can look like a cartomizer).

The black metal piece contains the atomizer and screws onto the eGo battery. I have no idea if a drip tip can be used with the atomizer part and be used as a dripper.
