Have been using the wall socket deal for the last few days and it works fine. Charges the batts and the lights make sense. However today I tried to plug it into my USB port and charge up a half used battery and the light never turned red, stayed green the whole time. Plugged it into the wall with the same batt and the light changed to red. Is something wrong with my USB port or am I missing the boat here.

It's probably your USB port. Mine does that sometimes with my charger and my PT.

These kit chargers are notoriously bad, and I always keep 2 or 3 of them on hand for situations like the one you describe.
I guess you could say it's an "expensive" laptop. It's silver with a fruit on it that lights up. Do these tend to have trouble with the ecig chargers?

The laptop's warranty just ran out last month however the ego is brand new. Only a few days old. Why do you ask?
I would say your "expensive lappy with the glowing fruit" is having issues playing nice with the charger.
