I bought a joyetech eGo-T battery mod. (Joyetech eGo-T Mod Tube for 18650 Battery - MyFreedomSmokes.com) the tube is like this I also have the control unit. the battery I believe is an 18650, the problem is that it has no marks on it other than a "B" "15707" and "odoa5c" BTW its red not blue. when it comes to getting a replacement battery that is the equivalent or better can anyone direct me to a site that has a battery that will work. I found this and assume it will work but would like to make sure. Joyetech 18650 Lithium Battery - 2200mAh (fits Joyetech eGo-T Mod Tube) - MyFreedomSmokes.com.

thank you everyone.

There are two types of 18650 batteries found in vaping in terms of chemistry: Lithium-Cobalt (ICR) and Lithium-Manganese (IMR). The one you show is a protected ICR.

The ICR batteries have a small, but real risk of venting hot gas / exploding in case of a short circuit / overload. Because of that, they can come with a small protection circuit that cuts off the battery if the current output is too high. There are also unprotected ICR batteries which are unsafe for vaping.

The IMR batteries (usually red) do not explode. They can dump large amounts of current relatively safely and they will get extremely hot in case of a short circuit, but will not explode. They do not come with a protection circuit. They are probably safer than protected ICR batteries considering that any protection circuit may fail. In the end, the safer chemistry dictates that the worst possible outcome will be less severe.

These are several good sources for batteries:
Super T Manufacturing, Innovative manufacturer of electronic cigarette products.
Genuine AW Batteries at RTD vapor
Batteries & Chargers - OVEREADY Flashlights/Torches - Control The Dark
