Question about ohms

I make my own coils for my tanks. My normal ohms I run is between 1,5 and 2.2 ohms single coil 4 wraps with 3mm silica. I want to try dual coil. I tried making one, I was thinking 4 wraps gets me the ohms I want, so 2 wraps per coil should give me the ohms I want. I was wrong my ohms were .5 So now I tried making 2 at 4 wraps per and I am at .9 Does anyone know how many wraps I need to do to get between 1.5 and 2.2 ohms?

To get an exact answer, we need to know what gauge of wire you are using, what type of wire (kanthal, nichrome or what else) and the diameter of your wrap (are you wrapping on a screwdriver or directly on 3mm silica).

I you get 1.5 ohms with 4 wraps on a single coil, you will get half those ohms with 2 of the exact same 4 wrap coils. If you put 2 coils in, you need to double your wraps, not halve them, to get the same resistance, so 2 X 8 wrap coils should get you in your comfort zone.

[edit]: I write too slow... this was supposed to be the 2nd post. the others all have valid points.

cool thank you Torch. I am wrapping on the silica. okay I have 3mm silica and 32 gauge kanthal

No problem, I just like to see things clear enough so you don't get 30 different answers that don't make sense even when combined.

I bet your 2 coils are parallel, like in most builds, so you need double the wraps for each coil. A picture of your build would further help us guide you, but I can already guess from your comments that this should fix your problem. I'm not always right, though...

Torch one of my tanks is parallel the other is kris cross. I just did 8 wraps per coil on my parallel one and my ohms are 1.4. Working good on my iTaste MVP 2 and I'm getting more vapor. Next is to try my kris cross one.

Sounds like asking put you on the right track... at least on one setup. It would be easier to give you a straight answer knowing what tanks you are talking about, but I doubt any tank would work differently. I have yet to hear of a tank that puts coils in series, so I have faith it will work the same for your second tank. Keep on vapin' Bro!
