I'm fairly new to e-cigs, having just started vaping about 3-4 weeks ago. Ever since I started I have been in search of e-liquid brands and flavors I like. I have a V4L Vapor King, and I've tried a bunch of their pre-filled carts, tried some HALO liquids (my favorites so far), and just today I received a bunch of different flavors of Backwoods Brew 10 ml bottles in 12 mg strength. My question is really about the BWB liquids.

The first BWB flavor I tried was Cappuccino. I filled a clean cart and tried it and was immediately very impressed by how good it tasted. I thought I had really found a great supplier. But after vaping it for about 30 minutes, this other taste began to emerge, and grew stronger and stronger as I used it. It lingers in my mouth and nose even when not vaping. To me it seems like a combination of the smell/taste of incense and the taste of soap. Its very unpleasant, and now it overpowers the good cappuccino taste that I experienced at first.

Does anyone have any feedback or opinions to share?

Thanks

Well, I can't say that was my experience. The Backwoods juices I've tried always tasted good. Have you gotten in contact with Don to tell him what's up?

I haven't gotten in touch with him. I'm honestly not wanting to jump the gun and say something is wrong with the juice if I'm somehow making a mistake or something. So I just wanted to post this to see what anyone else with more experience might have to say. I did just fill the cart. Based on a previous reply, I refilled a bit more, overfilling it, and had to blow some out. It still tastes that way to me. I just got the liquid today, and even if it tastes bad to me, I'm not sure I would consider it his fault. It just might be that it hits me differently than others. So I just wanted to see what other people had experienced.

I notice you're in TN. How's the weather? How are you storing your juice?

Juice can go a bit "off" in heat and directly light. I don't know if it can happen that quickly, but that's one possibility to consider.

The weather is very nice. Its been warm and sunny. Some people were even swimming in my apartment pool yesterday. The water would be too cold for me I think. But they were doing it.

My juice just came in the mail today. I did notice that the bottle was warm when I took it out of the package. I would hope it would not go off that quickly. I don't know what to make of this. I wonder if I'm just really sensitive to the taste of something in the base liquid. Now I can't even taste the main flavor of cappuccino much; I just taste that incense/soap flavor.

What's the weather like up in Minnesota?

That is odd. How are your other flavors tasting to you?

It's been a little chilly. Also, I live in a garden level apartment... so there's never really a ton of sun in here.

But I have read that there are people who cut back on their juice ordering in the hot months due to spoiling.

Well I haven't tried any of the others yet. I didn't want to get a bunch of carts filled with stuff I might not like, so I was taking it slow. Also, I was really happy when I first tried it because it was the best non-tobacco flavor I had tried so far. And I've already spent quite a bit on different liquids, so I have some basis of experience. I'll try some others. I might email Don, just to see what he has to say. I am pretty conscious about being perceived as hard to please or as a customer looking for something for free. That's part of why I'm hesitant to say anything to Don. I appreciate everyone's feedback. There are definitely challenges in undertaking vaping, and its sure nice to have help and the benefit of others' experience.

did you try changing the cartomizer? Did you vape any other flavors and see if they also had a bad taste? I just recently got some stuff from don and i didnt taste anything weird..on the contrary..what i did try was really good...but i didnt get the capp...i got applewood tobacco, honey flue, and RY4...i havnt tried the honey flue but the other two are awesome...might be something that happened in transit...or could be your cart or voltage or just not your cup of tea...but most people that try his liquids love them...I would contact him and see what he says...then go from there..

a couple other good places to get liquid are freedomsmokeusa, americaneliquidstore, tasty vapor, alien visions vaporrenu, halo, totally wicked, johnson creek, ms T's ( havnt tried it but heard its good..all the rest ive tried and liked/loves id have to say they go in order from most favorite to least...but thats not to say that totally wixked or JC arnt great...i just dont order from them as much..I vape more sweet tobacco flavors and im not huge into the pastry/fruity stuff unless it comes ith a tobacco flavor mixed in...but all of these places offer great products!

I went ahead and tried two more, each in a clean cart. I tried the Espresso in 12 mg and the Virginia in 12 mg. The espresso had the same bad taste. I did not notice the bad taste with the Virginia. I did not immediately love the Virginia, but it did not have that base taste that I'm describing. So maybe there is something in the coffee based flavors that is not good for me. I fully expected great things for BWB liquids based on so many different positive reviews. I will probably email Don to see what he has to say. I appreciate all the ideas and liquid supplier recommendations. So far Halo has the ones that I'm using everyday, specifically Freedom Juice and Torque 56. Don was out of several of the tobacco flavors last friday when I ordered. Thanks again for the great feedback.

I have found that some flavors need to age awhile and they get better and better.
I also found that as my taste buds rejuvenated, some flavors tasted better in the beginning and some much better later in the process.

That's interesting! I know that when I first tried torque 56, I did not like it at all. It seemed to have a sickly sweet taste that I found gross. But then I grew to like it quite a bit. So I've already seen a little bit how the taste experience can change. I've also seen a couple passing references people have made to "letting the bwb liquids age" or sit in the cart or something to that effect. That's the kind of info I'm hoping to learn, especially from anyone who uses the cappuccino or other coffee flavors.

I have had the same experience with different brands of juice. Great tasting then soapy! I switched everything and avoided the soapy one for a few days and then it's all good again. Weird but some people just taste things differently. I think maybe just too much of a good thing at once? For me at least unpleasant taste always are soapy, fountain pop, soapy, diet anything drinks soapy, I think it's just me. It couldn't hurt checking with vendor though, from what I hear he would not want anyone to be dis-satisfied with his product. Most mentioned on this site take pride in producing quality and if they think anything could be wrong they tend to make it right. Good luck.

I would bet it is the cart not the juice. The coffee flavors are really really hard on carts. I had the same problem a while ago and don said he was working on changing the juice so it was easier on carts and attys. I use an atty only for coffee because it is easier to rinse and/or spot dry burn to clean the coils., and i can still get 12 drops in for a good "vape". For coffee, you just have to do more maintenance.

Could be the carts - could also be a flavoring that you are sensitive to or just dont like.
Sometimes theres something in mixes that you dont like - say for example its coconut - and no matter how tiny a part of the mix coconut is, you can taste it strongly, and thats pretty much all you can taste.
Some people can taste the PG or VG and until they get used to it, thats ALL they can taste. That can come off a bit perfumey.
I used to be able to smell the nic - I can't anymore but I remember smelling it and it was STRONG lol

I do have the BWB capu - well caramel capu actually - and I cant say i get any of the flavors that you describe but
1. I don't use cartos, I drip
2. Ive been vaping longer so my tastebuds and yours aren't comparable

It may be that either you will like this juice in a few days or weeks or you will never like it and end up selling it on the classifieds. You will find lots more juices you don't care for over time - just the same way that you don't like every food you try. Don't worry if 'the new fab juice touted by many as super' tastes like crap to YOU - we are all individuals and not going to like everything the same.

I know exactly where your coming from. I had a bottle of BWB Tobacco menthol and I vaped it for 2 days straight all day long and I loved every minute of every vape. Then the 3rd day my juice started to taste like lemon soap. I left my whole bottle of juice sit in front of my upstairs window and the sun beat on it all day and I think that is what ruined it.

Have you tried just dripping on an atty? I hate cartos because they don't deliver the full flavor the way dripping does. If you still don't like the coffee flavors, pm me and I'll purchase them from you.
Hope you're able to get some enjoyment from the others that you ordered and you find a great all day vape that tickles your tastebuds real soon.
Oh, and 1 more thing... I don't remember if you said how long you've been vaping... I'm using Tapatalk right now so I can't scroll back, lol! But, it's pretty common for our tastebuds to go whack for a day or two. It happened to me at about the 3 week mark... Nothing tasted good and that was frustrating. Also, I could taste the liquid in my sinuses, if that makes sense, lol! I used saline nasal spray for a couple of days, drank more water than usual and chewed gum with xylitol. The bad taste bug was better by the next day. All that to say, give it a couple of days and retry the juice by dripping on the atty, you may end up pleasantly surprised.
Happy Vaping ~ L
