Iv'e seen some posts about rewicking with cotton balls but has anyone tried using cotton patches. I'm talking about the very thin T-shirt like patches commonly used for cleaning firearms. Seems like it would work well but I am new to all of this. I quit smoking analogs 11 days ago and don't ever plan on going back.

for 3 bucks i just buy new ones...
Well sure, but the coil outlasts the wick by a mile and if that works the rewick costs well under $0.01. I just gave it a try and it seems to be wicking fine. No gurgling or odd taste. I'm going to take it back apart after I empty the tank to make sure the coil isn't completely frying the cotton patch. I like doing things for myself whenever possible.

Go to Walmart and buy a small roll of "Peaches and Cream" cotton knitting yarn. That is all I have been using in the T3s. Pull out the metal stem, remove the factory flavor wicks and rinse. Dry burn until it glows bright red. Put a double srand in the slot and replace the metal stem. Trim with fingernail clippers, fill and vape away.

Hm, I used a double strand of the peaches n cream and flooded two T3's...
I'm going to try a strand and a half now to see if it works..
I have 15 of them to do, lol..
On a stock T3 coil, you need 2 of the 4 strands through the coil itself and a full 4 strands over the top. Trim them all as close to the edge of the silicone cup seal as you can. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

^ Thanks CloudZ!!! I'm saving that to notepad right now...
I already put 4 + 2 strands on the top. Should I take it apart again and remove the two strands I added?
I didn't change out the coil wick yet.. Just a dry burn right now.
No problem at all.

I would use the same wick material for both inside the coil and over it. I have experimented with using silica through and cotton over and it wouldn't stop leaking/flooding, no matter how much cotton I put on top. I have a theory that it creates some kind of "absorbsion gradient" which causes one wick to oversaturate the other. Just a theory, but it holds true even with different cotton weaves used together. In my experience anyway. This is probably only relevant in bottom coils, since the wicking is so touchy. I know others have used combos of cotton/hemp/bamboo and had success, but probably in different devices.

Oh yeah, and be sure to note that you can't dry burn cotton, it will literally turn to ash if it is dry when you fire it. I just dry burn the rinsed coil only then put in a new wick.
