I have been vaping for a couple of months and just started on my first VV Lavatube along with a vivi nova and I would like to try some DIY juice,

My local supermarket has a few flavours available which are based on Water, Ethanol and natural flavourings and another supermarket has similar but without Ethanol.

I am sure I have read somewhere that for the ethanol ones it would be good to 'air' the flavouring to reduce the ethanol but other people say it is fine but find they have to use more compared to concentrated flavourings.

I will be getting some 50/50 PG/VG 1.1%nic base liquid on Monday so all I need to do is add flavouring to it.

while not recommended, in reality it's probably alot of the same stuff in the other flavors we buy as they were for food anyways before someone dropped them into vaping liquids. you can go to somewhere like theflavorapprentice or lorainns oils and see what i mean.

1.1 is pretty low to start, remember that adding anything to it will make it even lower

I have looked into LorAnn, flavours from liberty-flights and other ejuice flavouring providers but considering the postal system is a touch slow at this time of the year I wanted to try a small 10-20ml batch using supermarket flavourings whilst look around see if I could get something local

You don't necessary buy those from liberty flights. You can find manufacturers that distribute their liquids with retail shops.
Can't help you in UK, but I've found one that is advertised in DIY liquids on vaping site that sells liquids via retail shops in Israel, and what seems like at least 50 shops...
All those "organic" and nature crap shops... that's the place to look for.

As was said 1.1% nic base is very low, that is 11mg nic base. So by the time you mix anything into it it will be much much lower.

i was just saying if you go to somewhere like TFA or LO you can see the ingredients used and they are comparable to what you are mentioning.

I am going to try some strawberry and vanilla (both based on Water, Ethanol and natural flavourings) as for starting on 1.1% (11mg) I was previously on 18mg (1.8%) VG based and found it too harsh but thinking about it now the supplier is completely against PG until a new supplier came to town with 50/50 which I prefer so when I go back I might try some stronger juice as thankfully he does 5ml 'samplers' for £2.99 which lasts me a couple of days at most.

Just saying it will only be 11mg if you vape it without adding any flavor or anything. If you add flavor it will be lower and may not satisfy you.

very true and I do expect that but as I am just experimenting my first batch will be under 11mg once flavoured but next time I will go for 24mg base if it works out

well good luck and once your post count is up make sure to visit the DIY forum for tips, hints and recipes.
let us know how it goes, be safe and have fun!!

at this moment I have got 3 SilverSpoon food flavourings Strawberry, Vanilla and Rum.

Strawberry and vanilla I expect should be ok on their own and possibly have a Strawberry & Vanilla mix which could turn out ok.
But I expect the rum not to turn out that well but willing to give it a trial on a basis of little is more start of on a weak side and make it stronger

I did try adding a bit of the Strawberry to a premixed Lime e-juice and it wasn't bad it took the sharpness of the lime away yet keeping the flavour

just remember that most flavors usually take a few days to reach it's full flavor. some taste fine right away but let some sit and see how it tastes after a while.....................

Good tip I will keep that in mind :)

I have just tried mixing 1ml of RY4 and 0.6ml of Lime (both premade 50/50 1.1% juices) to produce a lime flavoured RY4 and it vapes very nice. I start of with small quantities just so I don't waste to much on fails

Wont work,i tried it,i got some organic extract and added about 5 drops to a mill of unflavoured juice, thats about the standard ratio, and it made the juice too watery, and took away the TH and didnt even taste the extract, dont waste your money.

OP we do have a few members who use flavorings they get from the store, if you read the DIY section you should be able to find info on it. Many of the extracts in the store do have a pg base, and work just fine tho I will tell you my personal experience with them is I needed to use more of them than I did of others I bought online.

Yeah I have already read that supermarket flavourings will require more drops then concentrated flavouring and when I have checked the ingredients they are just Water, Ethanol and flavouring. I did notice some that have either Rapeseed, Sunflower and or essential oils which I avoided.
Is there a way of reducing the water/ethanol to prevent too much of a watery outcome?

The vanilla flavouring I picked up states Water, Ethanol and Extract of Vanilla, the other 2 is Water, Ethanol and flavouring
