Is it possible my vv ego battery is not putting out the volts it says it is. I've had two kanger 1.8 coils burn out in 48 hours. I had no issues when I was using my standard eGo 3.7 battery. I kept the vv battery on 3.5 volts the whole time. My hubby is going to try and find his voltage meter to check, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or if I just got crappy heads.

most variable voltage mods dont do a steady stream of power supplied. Rather then a steady indicated voltage your voltage will pulse up and down averaging to your set voltage extremely quickly. If your device has a rms setting it will be a more steadily line of voltage and may fix your issue using that setting.

what device are you using?

hi .. just a question .. when you say burn out the coils... do you mean the coils burned and broke and disconnected . . . like the filament in a light bulb or a fuse breaking or do you mean getting a burned taste?

What I do to save tons of money is rinse off the heads, soak in water over night and dry the next day on a paper towel. I change heads every refill, which is often considering I'm using a mini pro tank II, and Kanger Evods. Every couple of weeks I change out the flavor wicks and burn the gunk off the coil without replacing the coil. I use some boiled cotton embroidery thread, 2mm and have had excellent success for two months. Three tanks changing through 7 heads total. Either I'm really lucky or others have had horrific luck. Knock on wood, I haven't destroyed a coil, yet only gunked them up and had to clean them with a good dry burn.

If the coils actually burned out like a light bulb filament... I'd definitely test that battery.

Blessings and Joy on your Journey,
Bliss

yeah in that case it more then likely bad heads, only other variable would be if your using a new kind of juice and it has a high vg ratio. which could give a dry taste and burn the coils if its not wicking fast enough.
. It's 80% vg. How do you get it to wick faster? It is a thick juice.

Ok... so t didn't pop.
you have a wicking issue.
I happen to vape the same ratio and what you need to do is gently remove one of the flavor strands (there are 2 o 3 under the chimney). Your coils are fine, just give them a rinse to remove the burnt taste.

Also, you should know that there are some juices that taste very good when you first fill the tank, but then start to taste crappy after about halfway through. As a test, you can try emptying out the atty, and then just put a little more juice back in (without washing the coil). If it starts to taste better after a couple of hits, it's the juice. (I would particularly suspect this if the juice starts out a light color, but gets much darker).

You can thin out VG juice with a LITTLE bit of water. Add a drop or two when you fill your carto, and give it a good shake-and-roll.

I tested a theory earlier and just put the 1.8 coil back on that had the best looking wicks, and dry burned it a bit. After the first few hits, it tastes 90% better. So I'm going to try to pull a strand and clean the other two tonight, and let them dry overnight. I had a feeling this had to be a user error vrs bad heads that fast. During the day I just have a puff here and there, but at night it's a puff every minute or two over several hours. Bad habit left over from smoking analogs and sitting outside once my kids were in bed and chain smoking.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions everyone! I can't tell you how much all the tips helped calm my addled mind and nerves. Not to mention kept me from tossing three heads in the trash ($12)!

Oh and finally tested the vv battery and it was putting out slightly below what it was set on! Yay!!!

That's good to know about some juices getting cruddy. This one usually tastes better towards the end of a tank. Probably due to steeping most of the day, on the lanyard around my neck getting shaken around and heated a bit. Lol not to mention I usually forget to shake it before refilling. But I'm getting there.
