I had just bought the new Nautilus tank. And I am still somewhat new to vaping.when I tested the coil it read 1.7 ohms. I typically like to run in Wattage mode. And I usually run at around 7-8 watts. Is that fine for the tank because I don't want to burn out the coil to quickly as these are hard as hell to rebuild and a little more expensive.

That's fine , your mod won't exceed safe voltage for your resistance while in wattage mode , that's the biggest benefit of that mode .

I think the most important thing is that you get the vape YOU want out of your setup. If you want more/warmer vapor then the slightly shorter life of the coil is little to pay to give you an experience you like. You did not mention what type of mod you are using but I assume it is not a DNA30 so it probably maxes out at under 15 watts and that will not make a drastic difference in the life of a coil.
