Greetings fellow vapers xD

I have a question concerning what sort of service life one can anticipate from a 2.0 ohm Kanger Tech dual bottom coil, as used in the Pro tank 3.

I have the Pro tank sitting atop an original Vision Spinner, I typically have that set somewhere near 3.8v. My juice is about 70/30 VG/PG.

Thanks and Cheers!

James... I know you are going to get soooo many different responses to your question, and I don't want to discourage you, but here is my experience. I smoked two packs a day. I have a kanger pro tank 2 and a mini pro 3. I used them on a twist and an itaste MVP.

"they" said Oh you will get a week. I got two days MAX before it either leaked like crazy OR tasted burnt. I ran at 4. to 4.2,
I would buy kanger heads and sometimes all five in the pack were bad. Meaning they would blow-up after not a day. I did try re-building the pro 2 for awhile, but gave up on it.

Some people as I am sure you will read LOVE them and get much time from the coils.

I don't use either of them anymore.

Hi James,

It all depends on how you vape and if you have a dud coil or not. Some people can make them last weeks others only a day. I personally love the kanger tanks have a few PT2 and now I love the EMOW Mega sitting on my iStick looks great (see my profile pic :))

But and this is a big BUT stock shop bought coils as I think you will find out and others will post can be a bit hit and miss. I do re-build all my coils for my Kanger tanks. I don't bother with dual coil I build Micro coils and wick with japanese cotton. They work in my opinion better than dual coils that I have used before. I am also now building vertical micro coils in my kanger heads and I find them amazing.

You will read on here a lot of people rate the aspire Bottom Vertical Coils (BVC) which is what prompted me to try a vertical build in my Kanger gear. If you are interested in this sort of thing here is a thread I posted on how to build the vertical coils.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ed-kanger-dual-coil-single-vertical-coil.html

Regardless if yo build horizontal or vertical the vape can be so much better as well as saving you a bit of money on buying replacement coils (Once you have your supplies of Kanthal, Cotton, Ohms Tester)

Hope it helps and welcome to the world of vaping

I definitely find that the type of e-juice being vaped has a sever impact on the lifespan of coils. I've had them go after two days of use, however the current one in my aerotank has been running for 6 days. If I get a week I'm very happy. If you are getting less than that check youtube. There are several instructional videos on cleaning of these coils. You can get a few uses out of them if you clean them.

Just a small add to those that have posted. I have found that my kanger coils, and most of my other coils, life expectancy depends a lot on the juice I am pushing through. It seems a darker juice, say like my homemade hot coco, will gunk up my coils faster than a clearer juice like sweet pineapple. I build my own coils for my Kanger's, so it has been awhile since I bought any. When I did I would by them from a authorized dealer to make sure I had authentic Kanger's. We have a local B&M that I refuse to buy from cause they sell knock off crap.

Wow thanks y'all! That's an amazing amount of great information!

I'm presently using a juice called 'apple crumble'. I imagine it must have some sugars in it as well as some apple extract. It also has a slightly oat like flavor that comes from somewhere. I wouldn't call it a dark juice but it certainly isn't clear; it's about the color of a good amber ale and about as clear.

Thanks for the links on coil building for Kanger Tanks; one thing I'd hoped to do when I first got into vaping was to stop creating trash. Seems with replaceable coils I'd just exchange fiberglass trash for metal. At the same time I learnt that I also got wind of rebuilding coils, which sounds like a bit of a hassle but is certainly better than creating a mountain of disposable coils. Like all of this stuff, I'm easing into that, and the disposables will work fine until I get there. Also, I suspected it might be possible to clean and reuse those a couple times so I've been saving them so I will definitely be YouTubing that ;)

Thanks again, y'all are just about amazing!

that depends on you and your suck technique, your juice flavor, juice brand, juice vg/pg ratio and the alingment of Saturn in relationship to Mercury.

There are really just so many different variables.

I find the best thing to do, besides all the great advice from above, is to take them out for a cleaning before they become really badly fouled up with gunk n residue.

As far as trash, even coils I am done with and throwing away, i rip out the wick and kanthal, and quick rinse the metal part and throw that in the recycle bin. My city gladly accepts it in their recycle trash pickup.

I checked this thread because I'm also curious about stock coil life expectancy. Not ready to get into doing coils myself. I have two BVC 1.8 ohm coils that I've been using since I started vaping a few weeks ago (one for dessert flavors, one for menthol and mints) and neither has produced anything like the commonly described "burnt" flavor, and both still are producing lots of vapor. I think I've run 60ml through one and 25ml through the other. Keep expecting them to just die (I expected to kill them in a day or two really, from all of the sour reviews that pop up) but they just haven't yet.

When my Kanger clearos finally get here I hope to get the same kind of experience, but who knows ~ apparently only the coils themselves!

I use the single coils and clean and dry burn them every 2-3 days. I get a good long life out of them. when you dry burn them you can see the coil glow and see if it is burning evenly or if there is something wrong. I have ordered directly from kangertech usa and some of the cheap ones. IMO the real kanger coils are far superior to any of the cheapos

When I was using pre-built coils, I typically cleaned out my clearos and refilled juices on the weekends. If I got lazy and left the cartridges in for more than a week, the flavor would typically start suffering around day 10. For me, even though there was probably a bit of life left in them, I changed them out on a weekly basis. And, as others have pointed out, keep your very sweet, very dark juices out of your clearo tanks - get a dripper for those!

I liked the 2 days to 2 weeks answer :)

It isn't time, it is the amount of juice you run through it. I have had some long lasters but think I average 10 to 20ml on a coil depending on the juice, if it is sweet etc. a faster crap out.
I am also pretty picky about my vape quality and toss them as soon as I notice a fall off in flavor or cloud. I have saved a lot of them thinking I may try and re use them at some point. Some I have changed out just because I figured it was getting close and I would be gone for awhile and don't want to have to fiddle with them on the road.

Actually, 1 day to 1 month is the correct answer.

There are just to many variables. Voltage. Coil type, Wick material, how you hit, how often you hit, Juice: PG/VG ratios, flavors, sweeteners, coloring.

For example I use an Aspire Mini Nautilus BVC, and I had a flavor that no matter how I tried I could NOT get through 5ml of juice before the coil died (which for me was about a day or two). I gave the rest of my bottles of that flavor to a friend who has the same setup and he got through 30 ml on one BVC and then went on to another flavor with the same coil. (And yes, they were authentic Aspire gear, ordered straight from Aspire in China).

Or I have two flavors (orange and a vanilla rum) at 70/30 PG/VG, 12 mg nicotine, always run at the same voltage in two different Mini Nautilus's. Set at the same aperture opening. The orange is going strong on the same coil, the vanilla rum I've gone through 3 coils. I vape them as equally as I possibly can.

When the coil dies out, vapor production drops considerably and the flavor is completely gone.

So there really isn't a straight answer on how long coils last.
