I've looked and others have talked about this, but I haven't seen any answers yet.......

My pv: E-Power, 14650- 1300mah batt, MV brand DCC, juice used was Energy Cow, USA mix and Vanilla Latte from MV.

Issue: I experienced a metallic taste after vaping the cartos for almost a week. I filled 3 different DCC's with each of the above juices. First fill was 20 drops, then throughout the day I would add 5-10 here and there as I thought needed. The taste is not a burnt taste, more like sucking on a penny or tin foil. Last evening I cleaned and dried a DCC with Energy Cow in it that started to develop this taste. Then I refilled it with EC (20 drops), the metallic taste was still there, and the more I vaped the stronger it got, I couldn't vape it. So I took the DCC apart to investigate and found that everything looked good! The material around the coils was well soaked, no burn spots, nothing out of the ordinary except I could see that the fill material wasn't as saturated as I thought it would be. So, I'm wondering, where is that metallic taste coming from? I used 3 totally different juices and they all displayed the same characteristic. The VL is 100% VG ( I love it), the EC has more PG and the USA mix even more. So I don't think its the PG or VG in the juice.

Also, I cleaned and refilled the DCC with the USA mix and the metallic taste is maybe just noticeable a little. But not bad enough I can't vape it.

I humbly await your esteemed opinions...

A dry vape can span from horrid to just nasty and there can be some metallic in there too - likely the coil burning. But certain flavors can get you there as well. I know that I've experienced just a bit of 'metal' on the first few drags from a new DCC but not after a while vaping. I suspect dryness with what you said of the filler - even though the coil area may have been looking wet. A solution to that is to use a syringe and fill from the bottom up or fill from the top - do the taryn spin - use centrifugal force to force the ejuice down, refill, spin, etc. until the top of the filler is also soaked short of flooding.

Or you may just be one of those people who don't care for DC cartos. :) You're not alone... I don't care for them either.

I don't know what size your cartos are, but I can tell you from my experience that 20 drops is not enough to fill a DC cartomizer--mine took closer to 40 drops. Are you sure you're filling them to capacity? If not, you're getting dry hits, like Kent mentioned, and you're probably burning the filler inside.

That said, I prefer Smoktech single-coil cartos myself. The flavor and performance are much better and they don't put too much stress on your battery. If you shop at MadVapes, try the 1.7Ω Smoktech single coil carto; you may like it better. [Or the good old LR Boge cartomizer.] Crystal Clear Vapor also carries them and they offer free shipping.

Smok Tech Metal 1.7 ohm 510 Cartomizers

Please remember that this carto takes ~2 ml of ejuice, or 40 drops, roughly, depending on the size of your dropper. I recommend filling with a syringe--it's much more accurate.

Top off early and top off often.

Happy vaping! :)
